‘Below Deck Med’ Captain Sandy Calls Out ‘Nasty’ Trolls
Below Deck Mediterranean star Captain Sandy Yawn called out the “nasty” trolls. She is fed up with the comments that she and her crew have gotten on social media. As TV Shows Ace previously reported, fans previously trolled bosun Raygan Tyler for her non-stop smoke breaks. However, they only live-tweeted about her laziness at the time.
They didn’t end up in her DMs until now. Sandy took to her Twitter profile to address the rude comments that she and her crew members have received since the Season 7 premiere. Some fans aren’t vibing with the all-new crew, especially when it comes to the onboard romance. But, some are taking it too far with their offensive comments.
Below Deck Med trolls come out of the woodwork
Below Deck Med star Captain Sandy took to Twitter to call out the haters and trolls. There has been a lot more criticism about Season 7. Sandy wants the cruel comments to “stop.” The criticism has gotten so out of control that she had to put the stop to it.
There’s no doubt that Sandy has received more criticism than her fellow Below Deck captains. Fans compare her management style to that of Captain Lee Rosbach or Captain Glenn Shepherd. Ever since Below Deck Mediterranean Season 5, Sandy has gotten more hate for firing Hannah Ferrier in the middle of the season.
It was one of the most controversial firings in the entire franchise. Some Below Deck Med fans were upset that they wanted Bravo to fire Sandy from the show. Others called for a boycott of the show. The social media backlash also caused former bosun Malia White to take a break from Below Deck Med.
She confirmed that she wasn’t reprising her role in Season 7. Malia would rather focus on yachting outside the reality series. For now, Sandy is a major part of the show. The new season has also featured an all-new crew that hasn’t won over fans.
Most of the trolls have come for Sandy while others attacked Raygan. The comments have gotten so out of control that the long-running captain took to Twitter to address the trolls and haters. She had a special message for them. But that’s not all. Sandy also revealed what they said.
Captain Sandy Yawn fights back at haters
On Tuesday, July 19, Sandy shared her thoughts on Twitter. She wanted the non-stop trolling to stop. She learned that some of her Below Deck Med crew members received a lot more hate in their DMs this season.
“Please stop sending DMs and nasty comments to me and my crew on #BelowDeckMed,” Sandy wrote. “Social media should be fun, NOT an attack on human beings. Enjoy the show.”

The Bravo star also reminded viewers that Below Deck Med only shows a portion of what happens each week. “You see 43 mins one night a week from 24/7 filming. Pls show some grace. TY.” Soon enough thereafter, Sandy revealed some of the comments she received.
She told one fan that the new crew has gotten a lot more hate. Another troll came for her disabled niece. You can view the offensive tweet here for yourself. Fair warning, it’s a cruel and insensitive comment.
Below Deck Med Season 7 ratings plummetted
On top of that, the ratings for Below Deck Med Season 7 have plummeted. The premiere attracted 1 million viewers while the second episode dipped to below 1 million for the first time ever. Fans are not a fan of this season. They feel that it’s more staged than seasons past.

However, some think Bravo is to blame for the dip in ratings. New episodes of the show air a few days earlier on Peacock. Since fans have already watched the latest episode, they don’t tune into the live show on Monday nights. Since streaming services don’t share their ratings, it’s hard to tell how many people are watching the show.
