Insatiable Season 2: What To Expect
Netflix has released the Insatiable Season 2 trailer. The second season promises to be “twisted” and “wacky.” Despite horrible reviews in the first season, Digital Spy reports that Insatiable was one of Netflix’s top 10 streamed shows in 2018. Seems like this crazy dark comedy had a few fans that understood what it was trying to do.
Insatiable Season 1: What Happened?
What is this show about? At the core of Insatiable is the story of Patty Bladell (Debby Ryan). Patty is an overweight teen who, after a jaw injury, is forced to go on a 3-month liquid diet. She is transformed.
Now, she is the hottest girl at school. She is conflicted by this sudden attention. Patty had spent her life being bullied. Now, she seeks revenge on the bullies. But, talented pageant coach, Bob Armstrong (Dallas Roberts) sees something in Patty and believes he has his pageant queen.
Turns out, being thin doesn’t mean that you have the rest of your life together. Subsequently, neither does being a successful pageant coach. In the end, the two compliment each other and find success.
In the midst of all of this, there is a “throuple” between Bob, his nemesis Bob Barnard (Christopher David Gorham) and Armstrong’s wife, Coralee Huggens-Armstrong (Alyssa Milano). Adding to the zaniness, there are a couple of kidnappings, a fully-eaten sheet cake, and a lot of daddy issues. You cannot forget that best friend Nonnie (Kimmy Shields) is in love with the self-occupied Patty. Likewise, we cannot forget Magnolia (Erinn Westbrook), Barnard’s pageant avoiding daughter. It is all wacky chaos.
By the end of the first season, Patty and Bob were removing a body, and even some evidence of her murdered boyfriend Christian (James Lastovic) in a car. After they shove the car into a lake, it doesn’t sink. Instead, the car floats. Someone murdered Stella Rose (Beverly D’Angelo)! Before she died, Stella Rose had kidnapped Patty. Meanwhile, Bob thinks Patty did it, but Patty doesn’t know who the murderer is.
New Cast
The main cast is back. Arden Myrin has been upgraded to full-time. She portrays the wacky, pageant mom Regina Sinclair. Vincent Rodriguez III (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) will guest star in the series. Lastly, Alex Landi (Grey’s Anatomy) will guest star. Above all, could these two new additions mean that Patty may have a new love interest in Season 2?
Last winter, before Season 2 started filming, Debby Ryan gave W Magazine only one hint of what to expect in Insatiable Season 2: “I’ll say that we definitely step into a lot of the characters.”
Whatever does she mean? However, we don’t have long to find out! Netflix will drop the 10-episode, Insatiable Season 2 on Friday, October 11.
Insatiable Season 1 Was Controversial
When the first season’s trailer was released, it was so controversial that there was an online petition on Change.org asking Netflix to cancel the “body-shaming series.” They wound up with over 236,000 signatures, but Netflix had a different response. They renewed their top series for second season. The series, created by Lauren Gussis (Dexter), is based on the Jeff Chu book, The Pageant King of Alabama.
