‘1000-Lb. Sisters’ Fans Spot Something Shocking: The Same Person?
Tammy Slaton and Amy Halterman aren’t the only cast members involved with 1000-Lb. Sisters. The popular TLC series featured many different colorful characters across the past three seasons.
But is it possible that the show reuses a few of the background people? Keep reading to find out what a few Reddit sleuths noticed.
Fans think they’re seeing double on 1000-Lb. Sisters
Many 1000-Lb. Sisters fans enjoy rewatching the show in their free time. People even occasionally binge the series. And that’s how one viewer noticed something very suspicious.
“Are the Doula and Tea Waitress same person?” one Reddit user asked. “My cousin binge watched the series this weekend and sent these images. What do you guys think??”
The user proceeded to post two screenshots of the series. Compare the images and see what you think.
Many other Reddit users readily agreed that the doula and tea waitress did indeed seem to be the same person. They noted that the glasses on the women seem to be the same. However, other Reddit users weren’t quite so certain.
“They’re both just curvy white women with short hair and glasses. I don’t think so,” said one Reddit user.
“No. The tea lady is Valarie Roberts, an etiquette expert the show hired,” said another user. They linked to an article about Valarie Roberts and her involvement in the show, which you can read here.
At the end of the day, it just seems like a coincidence that the doula and tea waitress have similar features. They aren’t the same person.
Does the show ever stage any of its episodes?
Reddit users quickly determined that 1000-Lb. Sisters did not reuse a background character. However, this isn’t the first time fans suspected the show wasn’t being fully truthful. Many viewers believe on some level that the show is actually staged.
Another Reddit thread speculated that sometimes the producers stage some of the more dramatic scenes so viewers will keep tuning in. And some of that may very well be rooted in fact.
“Every time you see them go anywhere, or a doctor come to their house, or anything like that, it’s all been pre-arranged,” one Reddit user said. “Think about it, all. Those people are miced up and they have cameras ready to go. That doesn’t happen on a whim.”
