What Is Netflix’s A Castle For Christmas About?
According to the Netflix trailer, Sophie Brown (Shields) is the author of 11 “massive” bestselling novels, and “one massive flop,” By the looks of it, this bestselling novelist has been canceled. She needs to get out of town, and quick.
Thanks to some serendipity, Sophie ends up in Scotland, at a quaint bed & breakfast. Surrounded by knitters, she learns about a nearby castle, which happens to be part of her family history. Best of all, it is up for sale!
However, the Duke has his own plans. He needs a money fix and wants to keep the castle. But, pretty soon, his plan is foiled by his dog.
A Castle For Christmas was entirely filmed outside of Edinburgh, Scotland.
Netflix Castle For Christmas Used Royal Tailors For Kilts
Recently, Brooke Shields broke down her wardrobe from her movies and television series, including Netflix’s A Castle For Christmas. Speaking to Glamour, she advised that the costumes for A Castle For Christmas were quite elegant.
First, they used the royal tailors for the kilts and other costumes. In addition, Brooke Shields wears a spectacular Vivien Westwood tartan dress. As she was heavily corseted, this was not a comfortable dress to wear, but Sheilds admits she looks absolutely spectacular.
However, she did suffer for fashion with a few bruised ribs. But, it had to be more comfortable than the 100-pound headgear she wore nearly 30 years ago in Sahara.
Does Netflix Star Want Princess Bride Reboot?
Fans of the iconic rom-com The Princess Bride are very familiar with Cary Elwes. Netflix’s A Castle For Christmas is his first rom-com since that iconic movie. As for working with Brooke Shields, Elwes was thrilled. The Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre actor spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about both movies. First, he discussed his Netflix release, working with both Brooke and director Mary Lambert, and his Scottish Accent.
“We hit it off right away. I had always wanted to work with her. This is my first rom-com since Princess Bride. I always liked Brooke. I thought she had terrific comic chops. The chemistry was great and we had a lot of fun doing it. We got to shoot in South Queensferry, just outside of Edinburgh. And what a place to spend quarantine, my gosh. The chance to work with Mary Lambert and Brooke and to play a character so far removed from myself, and try out an accent I had never tried before was really an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”
As for remaking The Princess Bride, he is not in favor of that reboot. “But my theory is, look, if the movie is popular and it’s done well, and people love it, I think it’s pretty much best left alone. If a film has landed in the hearts of the public, then, to me, it is not a good idea to try and revisit it.”
As you wish.
