Derek Hough Has Some Unfortunate News Ahead Of The ‘DWTS’ Finale
There’s a pretty good chance you won’t see one of your favorite judges in the ballroom on Monday night. We’re gearing up to see the exciting season finale of Dancing With The Stars Season 30, but expect a few changes. Derek Hough revealed he has COVID-19, the day after the semifinals episode aired.
Derek Hough revealed his diagnosis on social media
The former pro dancer recently shared a post on Instagram confirming he has COVID-19.
“I have some news to share, and I wanted you to hear it straight from me,” Derek said. “Even though I’ve been fully vaccinated, I’ve just been diagnosed with a breakthrough case of COVID. I just found out. I feel OK. I feel strong. I’m currently taking advice from medical professionals, doing everything I can to get better as fast as I can.”
In the caption, he added that his Las Vegas shows for the week would be canceled and rescheduled for a later date.
Hopefully, the judge didn’t infect anyone else during the semifinals episode. Online, many fans expressed concern for Len Goodman, who is 77-years-old and also has health issues. The judges sit far apart from one another and the dancers stay on the ballroom floor. However, no one sees what goes on off-camera or backstage.
This isn’t the first time COVID-19 disrupted Dancing With The Stars Season 30. Cheryl Burke and Cody Rigsby both tested positive earlier this season, meaning they had to perform virtually. Derek also sat out during one episode earlier this season due to potential exposure, although he ended up testing negative.
Don’t expect to see Derek Hough join us for the exciting DWTS Season 30 finale, but with luck, everyone else will still get to appear and perform.
Dancing With The Stars reveals its finalists
If more people test positive for COVID-19, we could expect to see major changes for the finale episode. But until ABC makes an announcement, we will all just have to sit tight.
During the semifinals episode, we learned who our final four couples would be. They are:
- JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson
- Iman Shumpert and Daniella Karagach
- Cody Rigsby and Cheryl Burke
- Amanda Kloots and Alan Bersten
Online, many fans felt really surprised that Melora Hardin and Artem Chigvintsev and Suni Lee and Sasha Farber left during the semifinals. Many believed that both couples would be part of the final four for sure.
When the season began, not many people suspected that Iman Shumpert and Daniella Karagach would make it this far. As the judges even put it, no NBA player has ever made it this far. But they’ve pleasantly surprised everyone and many fans really want to see them take home the Mirrorball Trophy.
If everything goes according to plan, you can catch the DWTS season finale on Monday night at 8 PM. Don’t forget to wish Derek Hough and the rest of the cast well!
