‘Bachelor’ Villain Courtney Robertson Reveals Why She Turned Down ‘DWTS’
Season 16 Bachelor winner and villain Courtney Robertson reveals why she once turned down a stint on DWTS. Keep reading for all the details.
Courtney Robertson one of most memorable Bachelor villains
Courtney Robertson was the villain of Season 16 of The Bachelor. In 2012, she joined the ABC dating show to pursue Ben Flajnik. While viewers loved-to-hate her, Flajnik just loved her. In fact, he proposed to her during the season finale.
But it turns out that he had no idea about her bad rep with viewers or the other ladies in the house. Her on-screen mean girl behavior played a part in their split seven months after getting engaged.
Courtney Robertson married Humberto Preciado in October of 2020, four months after welcoming their son, Joaquin. In June, she revealed that she’s expecting her second child, a girl.
What about Flajnik? Back in July of this year, he told Us Weekly that he’s still single. “I think I want kids. I’m still looking for my partner, my person,” he told the outlet.
How is her relationship with ex-fiance Ben Flajnik?
Courtney Robertson and Ben Flajnik’s engagement did not end on a good note. To make matters worse, she later released a tell-all book, I Didn’t Come Here To Make Friends, about her time on the show. The book also gave nitty-gritty details about her relationship with The Bachelor lead.
Flajnik wasn’t happy about the book. During a recent appearance on the She’s All Bach podcast, Robertson revealed where they stand today.
Despite their messy break-up, the former couple is on “good terms.” today. Courtney revealed that they had a heart-to-heart about the book. She told the podcast hosts that the meet-up was “friendly.”
However, that didn’t stop her from spilling some tea during the interview.
Why Courtney Robertson turned down 150k DWTS gig
Since its 2005 debut, Dancing With The Stars has featured former Bachelor and Bachelorette stars. In fact, the last two winners from Seasons 28 and 29 were Bachelorette alums Hannah Brown (28) and Kaitlyn Bristowe (29.)
While the dance competition tends to choose contestants popular with Bachelor Nation fans, it seems the show almost went the villain route.
Courtney Robertson claimed during her recent podcast appearance that she was in talks to join DWTS. While she didn’t reveal which season, Season 15 of Dancing With The Stars aired the same year (2012) as Robertson’s season of The Bachelor.
In fact, Melissa Rycroft won the Mirrorball Trophy on Season 15. Rycroft was famously dumped by Jason Mesnick at Bachelor Season 13’s After the Final Rose special. She previously competed on Season 8 of DWTS.
According to Courtney Robertson, ABC offered her 150k to compete on Dancing With The Stars, with additional weekly bonuses.
While she was interested, there were two reasons why she turned the gig down. For one, the cast was already “mostly set in stone,” per Us Weekly.
She also makes the shocking claim that Ben Flajnik, whom she was engaged to at the time, didn’t want her to do it. Robertson told the podcast hosts that Flajnik threatened to end their relationship if she joined DWTS.
“When one of the hosts asked if Flajnik, 39, didn’t want her performing on the ballroom dance competition, Robertson claimed, “He was like, ‘If you do it, you won’t have a fiancé.,”’ the outlet reported.
