‘My 600-Lb. Life’ Dr. Now SLAMMED For Making Light Of Mental Health Issues
My 600-Lb. Life star Dr. Now is under heavy fire after making light of mental health issues, eating disorders, and the COVID-19 pandemic. The TLC star took to Instagram yesterday to share a meme he created featuring his face and what he thought was a pretty funny joke. Unfortunately for Dr. Now, his joke was NOT well-received by many of his followers. In fact, the doctor is catching some serious heat for making light of mental health issues.

Dr. Now shared a meme featuring his face with the serious gaze he often gives his patients to make it clear that he doesn’t believe them. There was also a caption on the photo. It was intended to be a funny meme. A meme related to pandemic weight gain.
“So you’re telling me that everyone gained weight during the pandemic?? Huh? So basically an eating disorder spread faster than a virus!?” The meme read.
The meme was intended to make light of pandemic weight gain, but many of his followers did not share in the humor. In fact, Dr. Now was slammed by a lot of his followers for making light of mental health struggles. Many exclaimed that someone in his position should no better than to make a joke out of mental health issues.
Instagram crucifies the TLC star for his insensitive joke
One follower penned in the comments: “Okay let’s make light of eating disorders, cause it’s bad enough having but knowing other people want to joke about it, smh.”
“This is offensive. you don’t have a very good concept or support for mental health despite being a skilled surgeon /MD. it’s unfortunate,” another chimed in.
Not everyone was ready to crucify Dr. Now in the comments. One follower noted they suspected the TLC star likely had little to do with what went on his Instagram page. Other followers pointed out OG fans know Dr. Now is not a man who sugar coats things.
