Ali Fedotowsky Reveals Medical Issue She’s Hid From Fans On Instagram
Ali Fedotowsky-Manno is opening up about a medical issue she’s dealing with that has caused her to hide her face on social media. In particular, she’s been trying to cover her face. She’s done so by putting something in front of it, wearing sunglasses or pulling her hair over her left why. So, what happened that has Ali hiding from the public eye?
Ali Fedotowsky reveals health issue
Ali went to Facebook and Instagram to reveal at the young age of 36 she’s been diagnosed with shingles. When she looks back, Ali is unsure why she wanted to hide it from fans. She admits it’s really because she probably didn’t want added stress when she was trying to heal and rest. In fact, it’s possible stress led her to develop shingles in the first place.
Ali also says she didn’t realize a person her age could even get shingles. She was wrong. Now, she hopes to help others detect symptoms early in order to get treatment. Ali hopes her story will reach people and help them realize they can develop shingles.
What is shingles?
Ali said, “For those of you who don’t know, shingles is a painful neurological condition that usually affects seniors. It’s relatively common for people in their 60s and that’s why people are vaccinated against it if they’re 50 or older.”
However, she’s realizing now from others reaching out that younger patients develop it also.
Another possible cause of shingles can be a weakened immune system which Ali is also looking into.
The CDC actually says 1 in 3 people will develop shingles in their lifetime. Anyone who’s had chickenpox can develop shingles. Plus, 1 in 10 who get shingles will develop nerve issues that can linger for months.
Early symptoms of shingles are a rash, pain, and itching. Other symptoms can later develop.
How it started for Ali
Ali said, “The very first day my forehead gelt a little itchy & tingly. I remember I kept itching my head and felt this electricity underneath my skin (my nerves acting up). So I sent my dermatologist a text and she immediately FaceTimed me.” She went on to say, “I am soooo grateful that she diagnosed me early and got me on the proper medication. So early that it was a day before I even had a tiny little pimple-like spot on my face which I wouldn’t have thought twice about (see 2nd pic) & days before I had multiple spots that ended up causing swelling and blurred vision in my eye.”
For now, Ali will continue trying to heal and also decrease her stress levels.
