Jill Duggar & Derick Dillard Share Plans For Teaching Sons About Intimacy
Having “the talk” is something that many parents don’t look forward to, but Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard already have a solid plan in place for having “the talk” with their sons. Israel is 5 and Samuel is 3. The couple feels that it’s never too early to start having conversations like these with their kids.
Recently, Jill and Derick have been making headlines for being open with their social media followers about what happens behind closed doors. Some fans feel that they’re being a little too open, but others appreciate a fresh perspective, especially coming from Jill, who was raised in a very conservative household.
In a recent interview with US Weekly, the couple chatted all about how they plan to approach intimacy when they’re talking to their kids.
Derick explains, “We’d rather it be us and have fun. And if you have a healthy view earlier on, it gives you more confidence whenever things like that come up in school.”
The Counting On alums believe “knowledge is power”
Jill says, “We definitely want our kids also to have the ability to protect themselves so that’s another aspect of it. Knowledge is power and you would be amazed at kids just learning about their body at the right time.” This may come into play due to the molestation scandal that rocked the Duggar family. Growing up, Jill, as well as several of her sisters, were victims in their older brother Josh Duggar’s scandal. For this reason, it’s possible that Jill is more inclined to protect her children.
Derick then says, “Growing up, we always learned the anatomical names for body parts and didn’t use colloquial names or euphemisms or whatever, which I think can protect against abuse. Because then whenever kids talk about things, then people might not know what they’re talking about. When they feel comfortable talking to you and if they say something happened, it’s very clear.”

Jill Duggar & Derick Dillard want more privacy in their own intimate life
Since their kids are getting older, they’ve figured out how to open doors. Jill says they’ve been thinking about putting a lock on their bedroom door. She explains, “We really need to get [a lock] because the boys learned how to unlatch our door. … My parents had one on their door. It’s about time we did.”
So, what do you think of Jill and Derick’s approach to intimacy? Do you like that they’re being open with their sons, even if they’re young? Leave a comment below.
