This Is What Caused The ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Fiasco Last Night
Did you catch that major mix up last night on Dancing With The Stars? During the last few minutes of the show, hostess Tyra Banks accidentally announced that Monica and Val were safe when they were really facing the chopping block. It was definitely awkward, but these things happen from time to time.
“This is live TV, right? This is the craziness of live TV,” the DWTS hostess said. She went on to say that she was just reading from her cue cards and that there was an error in the control room.
The DWTS Elimination Mistake Was Due To Computer Error
According to judge Bruno Tonioli, there was some sort of error with the computer voting system.
“Well it’s live television, things like this happen, especially with information coming in from all over the country, voting and calculating in such a small amount of time. Listen, the computer technology, not a clue. I always say, ‘Piece of paper! Write it down!'” Bruno told ET. He went on to praise Tyra Banks for how well she handled the situation.
“We don’t actually know yet, but the votes, there’s such a small margin between them. So somebody must have by mistake pressed the wrong button and put them in the wrong order. And Tyra was brilliant because she just said, ‘Oh no, wait a second here, this is not working. What I have doesn’t match what I’m getting [fed in].’ She was brilliant, because what she getting in the ear was different than what was printed out. She was really good because she took control of the situation.”
But even so, Dancing With The Stars viewers quickly blamed Tyra, as they have with practically anything that has gone wrong this season. She later issued an apology for the error on her Instagram story.
Val And Monica Shake It Off
Val and Monica were in an awkward situation, but they aren’t letting it get to them.
“It’s the first time [that this has happened]. I’m really honored that I get to experience that first with Monica,” Val said to HollywoodLife. “She’s getting the full experience I told her. You know, it is what it is. We got to roll with the punches. Keep moving. We’re here. We get to laugh about it now, thankfully. Onto the next one.”
“It was just a surreal moment,” Monica told ET. “It was like we went from zero to 100, back down to zero really fast. We just went back out there, smiled, and [heard] what the judges had to say.”
Ultimately, the judges saved Monica and Val and they will be back on Dancing With The Stars next week. Keo Motsepe and Anne Heche went home after the elimination fiasco.

As Tyra pointed out, sometimes these things happen on live television. People on stage like Bruno believe she did the best with what she could, but that may not be enough to appease DWTS fans.
Dancing With The Stars returns for 80s Night next Monday night. Be sure to tune in and see what happens next week.
