‘DWTS’ Hosts Justify Season 35 Experienced Celebs Casting Drama
Season 35 of Dancing With the Stars is set to begin on September 15th, but there is already a lot of drama surrounding the show. Viewers think that it is unfair that there are a few celebrities who have professional experience. Moreover, it appears to be an unfair advantage, but the DWTS hosts are attempting to justify the casting. So, what do they have to say about why it is okay that everyone gets a chance to dance? Keep reading for more details.
DWTS Casts A Few Experienced Celebs
There is always some sort of drama with DWTS, and this season is no different. A few big pros were noticeably absent from the lineup: Gleb Savchenko and Sasha Farber. Yet, Mark Ballas returned after his big Broadway run in Chicago. Additionally, Sharna Burgess is back after leaving in 2021, which is a huge deal. However, the biggest issue in Season 35 is that some experienced celebrities have an unfair advantage over the others.

Jenna Dewan was in the dance film Step Up, plus she danced alongside Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake. Then there is Harry Shum Jr., who was a professional dancer and dance instructor. Lastly, fans questioned Julia Stiles, who appeared in Save the Last Dance, but she clarified that she had a body double. That being said, how can ordinary people like Maura Higgins and Guillermo Rodriguez compete? Hosts Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro clarified why they deserve a chance. Hough noted that viewers want to see good dancing and that is the goal of the show, but added:
“The other part is, any dancer who is is is technical isn’t necessarily the best dancer, and I don’t even mean onĀ Dancing with the Stars. I mean as a professional dancer watching people dance, somebody could have the best technique, and I don’t connect with them.”
“You might know how to hip hop, you might know ballet, but the moment you’re doing a ballroom style, it’s starting over and you have to unlearn everything that you know.”
Jenna Dewan Is ‘Unlearning’
It seems that Jenna Dewan is unlearning a lot as she prepares to hit the stage on DWTS. She told Alfonso Ribeiro how much she had been struggling with ballroom. That was when he said that she had to “unlearn” all she knew and start over. It seems that everyone at the show will keep justifying the casting as long as they have to. As for whether or not the fans will agree with it is yet to be seen. So far, they do not think that it is fair:
It should be interesting to see how she and Harry Shum Jr. do on the show and if their experience is a factor. Will you be watching DWTS this season? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
