‘CBS Mornings’ Norah O’Donnell Talks Coming ‘Home’ After 7 Years
Audiences recently saw Norah O’Donnell make her return to CBS’ morning show after seven years. A lot has changed over the years, including the series’ name. However, O’Donnell herself has also shared what it was like with her recent homecoming.
Norah O’Donnell Recently Joined CBS Mornings, After Having Previously Worked On CBS This Morning
O’Donnell is a broadcast journalist known for her work with CBS News. She has worked on a number of the network’s programs, including CBS Evening News, CBS This Morning, and 60 Minutes.
Recently, O’Donnell returned to the network’s morning show, now CBS Mornings. Her official on-air return was on September 8, 2026, a role she previously held from 2012 to 2019.

At the time, O’Donnell joined Nate Burleson and reunited with Gayle King, becoming the team’s permanent third member. During the broadcast, she shared, “Thank you for having me back. It’s great to be here.” After King asked her how she felt about her first day, she shared, “I’m thrilled about what is an exciting show ahead and a big week ahead, too.”
Burleson felt that O’Donnell would help bring in a new era for the morning show. He shared, “We’re going to make this next chapter our best chapter here on CBS Mornings, that’s for sure. And you’re going to be a big part of that.”
The Show Even Included Photos From King & O’Donnell’s Own History Of Working With Each Other
For her part, King expressed that she was reunited with someone she has had quite the “history” with. As she shared, “We are ready to go.” O’Donnell agreed, “We do!” King added, “We got this, Norah. We got this, Nate.”
The broadcast included photos of King and O’Donnell working together on CBS This Morning. This caused King to tease, “We look cuter now.” O’Donnell agreed with the sentiment, sharing, “We do! Like fine wine!” Burleson agreed with the sentiment, adding, “Aging like fine wine!”

O’Donnell herself also shared how happy she was over her “homecoming” in a post on social media. Reflecting on how much has changed since she was last part of the show, she mused, “When I last anchored the morning show, I had three kids in Montessori school, and this past week I dropped three kids off at college. What a journey!” At the time, she shared her excitement and hoped that fans felt the same, taking to the caption to write, “Set your alarms!”
