Jelly Roll Was One Of A Few Celebrities Filling In For Jimmy Kimmel During His Yearly Summer Break
Jimmy Kimmel recently took his annual two-month summer break from his namesake talk show. With him set to return on September 8, 2026, a number of celebrities have been filling in for him on the show.
The lineup has included guests like Tiffany Haddish and Rosie O’Donnell. Most recently, musician Jelly Roll was a guest-host for a four-day stint from Monday, August 24, through Thursday, August 27, 2026.
As previously reported, the musician sparked some headlines after he made a few jokes at President Trump’s expense, notably commenting on his weight. At the time, many viewers were surprised as Jelly Roll is generally known for keeping out of politics.
Early on during his guest-hosting stint, Jelly Roll quipped, “Mr. President, from one fat pig to another, take it from me that physical fitness is very important.” In another segment, he introduced an ad parodying GLP-! medications called “Donjaro.”
During a later episode, Jelly Roll addressed the criticism, looking back at being asked about his personal politics at the Grammys. At the time, he shared, “I was asked to make what I felt at the time was a political stance and I fumbled my words.” He tearfully continued, “Ironically, by trying so hard not to make a political statement, I became one. I spent my entire career trying not to belong to a political party, partly because until March of this year, I wasn’t even allowed to vote, but now I have that right, it’s one I plan to exercise this coming November.”
Tomi Lahren & Marc Siegel Recently Weighed In On The Musician’s Comments
Since then, Jelly Roll has received some criticism from figures on Fox News. Conservative pundit Tomi Lahren, while referring to the musician, quipped, “I liked him better, you know what, doc? I liked him better when he was fat.”
Lahren continued, “I liked him better. I thought he was nicer, you know, he, he just talked about his redemption journey then and whether you like his music or not. I liked it when he talked about redemption, and he talked about cleaning his life up. Now he got skinny and mean.”
The hosts then discussed double standards, musing that a conservative figure would have been mocked for body-shaming if they publicly mocked someone’s weight. As Marc Siegel shared, “And what about fat shaming? I guess you can do that if you’re a Democrat, right? You’re not allowed otherwise.”

when someone loses weight then starts weight shaming then I have no use for that person. He showed his true colors. mean and hateful. Done with him. I Kimmel afford a lot of money to be a hateful person against the President.
Yet, the poor excuse for a president can be Hateful to everyone who doesn’t agree with his views.

Everyone in the world objectively knows he is a dangerous idiot.
There is a old saying that goes if everything thinks you are an asshole maybe you are the problem and not everyone else.

I used to like Kimmel & the Roll. But their relentless Trump basing has gotten so old they’re looking insane. U guys were comedy geniuses. Now you’re Trump hating chumps!
