‘RHOP’ Karen Huger Never Would Have Survived Jail Without Bravo
Real Housewives of Potomac star Karen Huger spent six months behind bars for a DUI. She is not the first housewife to go to prison, and she likely won’t be the last. However, she credits Bravo for helping her get through her time locked up. Keep reading for more on what she had to say.
Karen Huger Needed Bravo To Survive
It was a scary time when RHOP star Karen Huger was arrested for a DUI. As it turned out, this was not her first one, as she was a repeat offender. She went to jail in February 2025, but was released by September of that year. Karen only served around six months, although she was supposed to be in jail for one year. It was hard to handle, but she is now opening up about what helped her survive her time. She stated that being a housewife helped prepare her to go to jail, which is an interesting twist:
“Bravo stood by me when I went through a lot. I often credit the courage that I had from the training I had as a Housewife to make it through and to get sober and to be clean.”
RHONJ star Teresa Giudice has been adamant that being on Bravo was the reason she and her ex-husband went to jail. She maintains that they never would have gotten caught had she not been on television. Moreover, she thinks that the network ruined her family. Jen Shah from RHOSLC was also arrested and served time, but she does not appear to be returning any time soon. However, Karen Huger will be back in Potomac for Season 11 now that she is free. Such was the case with Teresa on New Jersey as the series documented her leaving and returning home.
Karen appreciated Bravo so much that Andy Cohen was on the list of people she talked to from behind prison walls. She maintains that they are family, and that is such a testament to her time on RHOP and how she values him and their friendship:
“Andy was one of the few people that I allowed to talk to me inside while I was paying my dues, which I needed to do. He was so lovely and so supportive. I adore him. I love him. I am so happy to be a part of his team and his family.”
A Slow Return
Karen Huger has made a promise to herself and her sobriety to take her time coming back to Bravo. She does not want to jeopardize anything in her life just for a paycheck. Yes, she was asked to join RHUGT for the 20th anniversary, but politely said no. It was not the right time, but she appreciated how the network respected her choice to step back. She is excited to be back for Season 11 and to show a new side of herself.

I really loved watching RHOP but if Karen Huger is going to be allowed to return I’ll find something else to watch. Bravo shouldn’t reward her disgraceful behavior by putting her back on TV. She could have killed herself or somebody and to add insult to injury, this was her second DUI. She needs to go home and sit down.
