Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts has been through some tough times in her life, especially breast cancer. Yet, she is opening up about the strongest muscle that helped her through her diagnosis and treatment. Keep reading for more details on what she had to say.

Robin Roberts Is A Strong Woman

There is no disputing that Robin Roberts is one tough woman. She was doing a self-exam, as all women should, when she found a lump in 2007. Then, after a biopsy, she learned that she had Early-stage, triple-negative breast cancer. This was clearly terrifying, but Robin is not only a trooper, but she is a survivor. The GMA anchor had a lumpectomy as well as chemo and radiation to get rid of the cancer. Moreover, she has always remained very open and candid about what she has been through in an attempt to inspire others.

Now, the popular co-host is gracing the cover of WebMD in the Fall 2026 edition, and she is again discussing her breast cancer struggle. However, Robin Roberts is talking about the core muscle that she used to get through every day:

“Optimism is a muscle that gets stronger with use.”

She noted that it did not completely take away the fear that accompanied her diagnosis, but it did carry her through. For one of the first times in her life, after learning she had cancer, Robin had to learn to rely on and depend on people. This was something she was completely unfamiliar with and something she did not care to do. Yet, this was not the time to be stubborn, and she knew that. Fortunately, she had met her wife, Amber Laign, two years prior, who was her girlfriend at the time. She was by her side for everything, and that likely helped to solidify their love for each other.
