‘Today’ Announces New Host Joining The Show

The Today Show is getting a new host. However, they are a familiar face to many, as they are leaving another network to join the long-running morning show. In fact, the new host opened up about the move in a recent share with fans.

The New Today Host Shared That They Were Already Dressed For The Part On Social Media

Today has been around since around 1952, serving as NBC’s morning show. Over the years, fans have seen a number of co-hosts on the show.

Currently, the show is presented by Savannah Guthrie, Craig Melvin, Al Roker, Carson Daly, Jenna Bush Hager, Dylan Dreyer, and Sheinelle Jones on weekdays. In addition, the weekend roster is made up of Laura Jarrett, Joe Fryer, Angie Lassman, and Willie Geist.

Recently, it’s been announced that a new anchor is joining the show. This is Nikki Battiste,Ā who will be leaving CBS News after working on a number of their primetime and morning shows for nearly a decade.

Battiste recently took to social media to share the big announcement. “I’m thrilled to share that I will be joining NBC News as anchor of Early Today. I will also contribute to Today.” Included was a photo in which she donned an NBC baseball cap and held up a Today mug.

Battiste Explained That The Move Is A Bit Of A ‘Homecoming’ For Her

Battiste continued, “I’m honored, humbled and grateful to have the opportunity to work with the extraordinary teams at @nbc_earlytoday @todayshow and @nbcnews.” While she might be leaving CBS News, the move is also bringing things full circle for Battiste.

The new host explained, “This is special for me… a true homecoming. I began my journalism career as an NBC Page and then a production assistant at Today. NBC has always been near and dear to me. This next chapter is a dream come true.”

Battiste continued, “Thank you @nbc_earlytoday, @todayshow and @nbcnews – and to my family for their continued support and love. I’ll see you on the air the week of August 10th on @nbc @nbcnews and @nbcnewsnow!” She is expected to make her debut the week of August 10.

Despite leaving, some of Battiste’s former co-workers wished her well. CBS News’ Vladimir Duthiers took to the comments to share, “The best news ever! Congratulations Nikki!” Other comments from fans included:

  • “Congratulations, Nikki!!!!!!!! So, so excited to see you on my television screen again.”
  • “So ecstatic for you darling!!!”
  • “Yay!!!!!! This is so awesome and they are so lucky to have you!!”
  • “WOO HOO! Huge huge huge Homecoming! Love you and am so excited! Xoxox.”
