‘General Hospital’ Kate Mansi Is Leaving Soap
News has come out that Kate Mansi is leaving General Hospital. Notably, this comes out just as she took on another role of sorts on the show. Since then, fans have been weighing in on the story on social media. In addition, after the story broke, Mansi herself issued a statement with fans.
Kate Mansi Joined General Hospital Back In 2023, Taking Over The Role Of Kristina Corinthos-Davis
Mansi previously became known to soap fans after appearing as Abigail Deveraux on Days of Our Lives. Staying in the role from 2011 to 2016, she won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2017.
In 2023, Mansi joined the cast of General Hospital as Kristina Corinthos-Davis. The character was previously played by Lindsey Morgan and Lexi Ainsworth.

However, according to Soap Opera Digest, Mansi is saying goodbye to Port Charles as she is making her exit from the soap. It is believed that the actress has already filmed her last episode.
Mansi Had Directed An Episode Of The Soap Earlier This Year
That said, some specific details were under wraps at the time. It is unknown, for example, when Mansi’s final air date or what her last storyline will be.
General Hospital generally airs episodes six to eight weeks after filming, so her final episode is expected to air this upcoming summer. In fact, the outlet teased that Kristina will receive big news during the upcoming Tuesday episode.

Notably, this also comes out after Mansi directed an episode of the soap earlier this year. As noted by Parade, at the time, she shared, “It was really gratifying to push myself and study so hard for like a year and shadow and be like a sponge and soak up as much as I could and then to be a part of this story behind the scenes to also direct it.”
Since the news has come out, fans have been sharing their reactions to Mansi’s exit, especially as it has been shared on social media, such as through Soap Opera Network. That said, some fans think that there is more to the story that will soon unfold. Some comments included:
- “She actually has stepped into a 2nd role at GH: director. Trust me, she’s not leaving GH.”
- “You will be missed, if it’s true. I did hope to you and Ethan would get together. Maybe you could ride off into the sunset together.”
- “Wish you all the best!”
- “I just read Soap Opera Digest which confirms Kate wrapped filming in April, however GH normally films 6-8 weeks in advance so we should continue to see Kristina into June.”

Mansi Later Discussed Her Exit Following The News
Mansi herself later spoke about her exit with Stephanie Sloane of TV Insider. As shared by Sloane’s newsletter, The star shared, “I’ve made the very difficult decision to leave General Hospital. I have a few new projects that require my full attention, and with my husband [Matt McInnis] currently producing a series filming primarily abroad, I needed the flexibility to travel while continuing to develop and work in Los Angeles.”
During the discussion, Mansi also looked back at her time in Port Charles. She continued, “When Frank first approached me about the role, two things deeply resonated with me: the opportunity to show my support for the queer community by playing an LGBTQ+ character, and to help tell an endometriosis storyline. Together, I truly feel we honored both of those stories in a way that mattered. And the fact that I got to direct was simply the icing on the cake! Now, it feels like the right time for both Kristina and me to step into new adventures.”

For his part, EP Frank Valentini shared, “We love Kate and support her decision to leave. The door is always open, and we appreciate all that she added to the show these past three years.” At this time, there are no plans to recast.
