Savannah Guthrie Makes Abrupt Exit During Live Broadcast
Savannah Guthrie’s decision to return to the morning program was a little unexpected. Her mother still hadn’t been found, and the police investigation hadn’t had any new leads since shortly after the presumed abduction. The Today host left New York City for Tucson, Arizona, immediately after her mom was reported missing. She stayed there for weeks, waiting for word from the alleged kidnappers.
However, she decided the best way to honor her mother was not to give in to fear and resume her life in New York, including her day job. But it might have been too much, too soon.
For the second time since her return, Savannah Guthrie abruptly left the morning program with little warning. Craig Melvin informed the audience of the departure halfway through the May 6 episode.
