‘Today’ Hoda Kotb Shut Out From Savannah Guthrie’s Return
Former Today Show anchor Hoda Kotb has been filling in for Savannah Guthrie while she has been in Tucson, Arizona. She has been with her brother and sister, Camron and Annie, while they search for their missing mother, Nancy, 84. Now, she is set to return, but Hoda has been shut out from that big moment. Hoda Kotb Done With Today
Savannah Guthrie had barely been back a month from vocal cord surgery when she learned her mother had gone missing. That was when she left her post at the Today Show and headed straight to Tucson, Arizona, to be with her family and help aid in the search. Since it was such a scary and devastating situation, Hoda Kotb rejoined her Today family as the temporary co-host. The timespan was unknown as it was unclear if and when Savannah would return. She may never come back, but after a one-on-one interview with Hoda, Savannah shared she’d be back on April 6th.
As exciting as this is for fans and the anchors, Hoda will allegedly not be on set when Savannah comes back. That is a shock, given they are extremely close. Moreover, Hoda dropped everything to fill in when Savannah needed her the most. So, why would she not be there to welcome her good friend back on her big day? Allegedly, the network has opted to “close the chapter” with Hoda now that her time is coming to an end. Per an insider:
“This is Savannah and Craig’s moment now. Moving forward, they are the cohosts. That’s the team. Hoda will always be part of the Today family. But this chapter belongs to Savannah and Craig.”
Moreover, it was questioned what Hoda Kotb would do now that she was no longer a part of the show. It would not be unfounded for her to be on set, celebrating Savannah. At the same time, this is not a celebratory day, as her mother is still missing, so it is very much a mixed bag.
A Lot Of Questions
Although many love Savannah Guthrie on the Today Show, they do not know if returning is the best idea. They would not necessarily come back if their mother were still missing:
- Well, I certainly would NOT be returning to work with my mother still missing!! Family is more important than earning money!
They also questioned how she could go to work when everything had been turned upside down. However, after her interview with Hoda Kotb, it was noted how she loved her job. This gives her some semblance of normalcy amid all of the uncertainty and sadness.
