Zac Brown Had A Few Songs (& Fish) For The Castaways On Survivor 50
Brown is a singer known for co-founding and serving as the lead singer of the Zac Brown Band. He is also known through the electronic dance music group Sir Rosevelt.
Recently, Brown made a surprise appearance on Survivor 50 as a reward for the winning tribe. The singer, known for being a fan of the franchise, could be seen spearfishing, cooking, and even performing a few songs for the castaways.
In addition, other celebrities are said to have some connection to the season and might appear. This includes Jimmy Fallon and YouTube personality Mr. Beast, often stylized as “MrBeast.” Fans have already seen Billie Eilish become part of the franchise with the “Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol” this season.
However, Brown’s appearance ended up not getting the best reaction from fans, with the episode becoming the franchise’s lowest-rated episode on IMDB.
Insider Claimed Production Wanted Season 50 To Be A Star-Studded Event, But Realizes They Might Have Gone Too Far
For many, the point of contention was just how much the episode focused on Brown, with some thinking it took time away from the contestants. While celebrity appearances had been teased for the season, fans assumed it wouldn’t get too much focus until the recent episode proved otherwise.
Since then, an insider recently spoke with The U.S. Sun, claiming that the showrunners are aware of the backlash. They also shared plans to avoid further criticism with some last-minute changes.

As they explained, “Production has seen the backlash. And they stand by their decisions made to make this a superstar, supersized season. That being said, they don’t want to alienate the fanbase. They are hearing everyone out.”
The source continued, noting that production had decided “that they would cut down some of the future cameo edits, mostly Mr. Beast. It’s pretty last-minute to make cuts, but not too late.”
According to the insider, the milestone season was intended to be a celebration, but productions now feel like they did too much. They shared, “They’re trying to strike a balance. The idea was to make this season feel huge, but they’re realizing they may have pushed it too far.”
As the outlet noted, the episode had already received quite a bit of criticism on social media. One fan wrote, “Why is Zac Brown getting more confessionals than the castaways?? This is ridiculous.” Another shared, “I didn’t wait 50 seasons for this to turn into a celebrity cameo fest.”
