‘The View’ Whoopi Goldberg Defends Olympic Athlete Against Trump
The View host Whoopi Goldberg has defended an Olympic athlete against Donald Trump. This happened after the athlete spoke out about representing America. Trump did not like what he had to say. However, Whoopi came to the rescue to defend the athlete and not defend Trump. Fans loved what Whoopi had to say about it all. Keep reading to find out more about this situation.
Olympic Athlete Calls Out America, Has To Represent Country
An Olympic athlete has revealed how he felt about the country and called out the United States of America. However, a lot of people ended up agreeing with him. He revealed how it was hard to represent a country when he did not agree with everything going on. Hunter Hess is a freestyle skier. He admitted that it was hard to represent the USA this time around because he does not agree with everything that is going on in the country. Well, Donald Trump heard about this and did not have very nice things to say about it. In fact, he seemed pretty mad.
Whoopi Goldberg Defends Him Against Donald Trump
Donald Trump called Hunter Hess a loser. He revealed that he does not think he should be on the USA team if he is not happy to represent the country. However, Whoopi has defended the athlete after this.
“The athletes, I think, did the right thing by explaining how they feel. The problem for me is people at home who are calling them losers and all these kinds of things. Here’s the issue: You know, they are entitled to feel how they feel. That is their right. And they are saying, ‘I don’t agree with everything.’ It’s like when I was a kid, people said, ‘My country right or wrong.’ No, if you’re wrong, you’re wrong. And people are going to say you’re wrong.”
She does not agree with Trump calling Hess a loser. However, he is going to do what he wants anyway.
It seems as though Whoopi did not like that Trump was calling the athlete a loser. She did not appreciate how Hunter was torn apart for expressing his feelings. This is something Whoopi feels every athlete should be able to do. However, Trump did not like what he had to say and did not want him to be on the USA team if this was how he felt.
