‘Unexpected’ Mother Ditched Sex Talk Over Daughter’s Sexuality

In the new season of TLC’s Unexpected, one of the mothers opted to ditch the sex talk due to her daughter’s sexuality. She claimed that she did not think her child was into the opposite sex, so she was not worried that she would get pregnant. Keep reading for more on how things flipped on a dime.

No Birds & The Bees Due To Sexuality

Season 7 of Unexpected is set to begin on Monday, February 16th, but there is already so much controversy attached. Bella is 15, while Hunter was only 12 when he learned that he was going to be a father. He is now thirteen, but Bella claims that he only thinks about being intimate. Viewers are ready to use the show as a cautionary tale, but also wonder how Bella got away with sleeping with a boy in middle school. They are proving to be ones to watch, but so are Amya and Jose.

They are sixteen years old, and it is not so much their age that has fans up in arms. Moreover, it was that Amya had told her mother, Mama G, that she was a lesbian. Therefore, Mama G never felt that she had to have a complete sex talk with Amya. Unfortunately, Amya confessed that it was more of a phase or a way to feel loved and accepted. Boys did not make her feel desired at the time, so she went for females until she met Jose. That led to her getting pregnant as a teenager.

Now, her mother sees that she should have had the complete talk, from soup to nuts. Unexpected fans saw the clip of the new season and could not believe how naive Mama G was. Moreover, they felt that she should have talked with her daughter no matter what. There was also chatter about how Amya was laughing during the conversation. No one felt it was funny, but maybe she was nervous recalling the whole situation.

An Interesting Take

After Unexpected fans saw that Mama G omitted some details from her sex talk based on Amya’s sexuality, they were blown away. Regardless of what or whom Amya was interested in, teenagers must know all about safe sex. Even Amya’s boyfriend, Jose, was laughing during their introduction interview, which was awkward for viewers. Again, they are teenagers in a very interesting situation, and it could be nervous laughter. Nevertheless, they made fans feel very strange:

  • Apparently they needed the sex talk, as they think this is cute and funny.
  • Always laughing… When it’s nothing funny about the situation 🙄
  • I’m up in all my kids business even the grow ones so I don’t understand these parents
  • Even if your kid is a lesbian or asexual, you should still educate them!
