The show moved to the National Geographic Channel after four seasons on NBC. Then, the star launched several survival-themed spinoffs with National Geo and other platforms. However, after another four seasons, the network quietly dropped the show. Season 8 aired in 2023.

It featured celebrities such as Bradley Cooper and Benedict Cumberbatch, navigating the Scottish Highlands and other locations.

Popular Reality Show Moves To New Network After Cancellation

Good news for fans of the survivalist reality show, as it hasn’t been completely canceled. Running Wild With Bear Grylls is on the move to a new network. Season 9 of the popular reality series will air on Fox.

According to ComingSoon, Matthew McConaughey, Uma Thurman, and Colman Domingo are among the celebrities involved in Season 9. “Running Wild with Bear Grylls combines epic adventure with intimate, human storytelling, which pairs perfectly with Fox’s premium unscripted slate,” Fox said in a statement.

The statement continued, “Bear has a rare ability to push people beyond their comfort zones in ways that are both visceral and emotionally revealing, and this new season raises the bar—from breathtaking locations to the remarkable guests joining him on these unforgettable journeys.”

An airdate for Season 9 hasn’t been revealed yet, but Running Wild With Bear Grylls fits in with Fox’s other adventure reality series, such as the Fear Factor reboot.

Fans Debate If Show Is Fake

Running Wild With Bear Grylls is a popular show, but it’s still a reality show. One viewer asked on social media a few years ago just how real it is.

  • “Is the new Bear Grylls show fake? Just watched the episode with Florence Pugh at 39:33 she ties a rope to a rock. When she starts tying, her nails are blue, while tying there is no polish, when she’s done her nails are blue again?”

Others chimed in that the show is likely fake.

  • “It was revealed a while ago that during filming Bear Grylls stays in hotels for the night,”
  • “But yeah of course it’s fake; do you really think Bear was put there sleeping on rocks with a full camera crew?”
  • “Fake as can be”
  • “Good rule of thumb: everything you see on TV is either fake or at the very least manufactured In this case, it’s unlikely they would bother having more than one camera present, so every time you see a cut or a close-up, that was filmed separately”
  • “Yes. All those survival stunts are planned and staged”
