On Instagram, the Israeli Bobsled team was identified as Uri Zisman, Omer Katz, Menachem Chen, Itamar Shprinz, Ward Fawarseh, and AJ Edelman, as well as Lulu the Shiba. This is reportedly the country’s first time competing in bobsled at the Olympics. However, news has come out that an apartment the team was using has been robbed while they were practicing ahead of the games.

Reportedly, both valuables and important documentation were taken. Taking to X, Edelman, who serves as the team’s driver, shared, “While training for the Olympics the @israelbobsled apartment was broken into during their training, thousands of dollars of stuff and passports were stolen. What a season…”

AJ Edelman Kept Fans Updated About The Story On Social Media

The post also included a photo of investigators searching the apartment for clues. In later posts, Edelman shared that some of the stolen items also include shoes, suitcases, and sporting equipment. However, he later assured that the team soon returned to training as was “in great spirits.”

Edelman later shared, “I have to say, the @israelbobsled team is just such a fine example of how we push forward in difficult circumstances.” After seeing the “boys” return to training, he added, “I really believe this team exemplifies the Israeli Spirit.”

Reportedly, some members of the team have not arrived in Italy for the Olympics yet. The team also didn’t wish to disclose the location of their training base.

Speaking with the Associated Press, Edelman confirmed that he was in Italy and not at the site of the robbery. Team coach Itamar Shprinz was said to be there at the time, but it was unclear if he witnessed the robbery or was simply near the area. The outlet also noted that official bobsled training in Cortina d’Ampezzo will start on Thursday.
