The “Hot Topics” table on The View can get heated, but one recent discussion took a naughty turn. The live audience was horrified after a host made an obscene gesture. Rather than calling it out, several of the other hosts mimicked the dirty gesture. Keep reading to find out what happened.

The View Debates Actor Jason Bateman’s Comments About Childbirth

Jason Bateman is widely regarded as an unproblematic Hollywood actor. He starred on Little House on the Prairie as a child and continued his acting career into adulthood. He co-hosts the Smartless podcast with fellow actors Sean Hayes and Will Arnett.

Singer Charli XCX was a guest on the podcast. Jason Bateman faced rare backlash for an interaction they had. The “Brats Summer” creator said that she didn’t want to have children. Jason Bateman responded by telling her that his wife didn’t want to have kids either until they met. He suggested that Charli XCX might change his mind like his wife did.

The exchange immediately went viral.

The decision to have children or not is a deeply personal one for many women. The View hosts addressed Jason Bateman’s controversial comments on Thursday’s “Hot Topics” segment. Sara Haines, who has three children, defended him. She said that he was trying to relate to the podcast guest by sharing a personal story.

The topic eventually turned to childbirth in general. Joy Behar joked, “I remember thinking after I had one, I’m not doing this again.” She said in shock that Sara Haines did it three times. Sara Haines responded, “Well, we did it more than that, but there were three babies!”

The View host then added, “at this point, they fall out,” while gesturing to her crotch area. “Sorry for the man in the front that just got the visual of my…,” she said, to the laughter of her co-hosts. But one person who wasn’t laughing was Executive Producer Brian Teta. She apologized to him on air, and the camera panned to the EP looking horrified.

Alyssa Farah Griffin agreed that Jason Bateman’s comment was harmless. She said she wasn’t sure that she wanted to have children until she met her husband, Justin Griffin. She announced live on The View in October that she was pregnant with a baby boy after several years of fertility struggles.

The ABC show plans to bring in guest hosts while Alyssa Farah Griffin is out on maternity leave, beginning on Tuesday, February 17.

Tell us in the comments what you think of Jason Bateman telling Charlie XCX she could change her mind about having kids. Was he out of line?

  1. Those witches on the view need to be retired. it’s way overdue just like Hollywood. boring and discriminatory and absolutely horrible. We Magas need to boycott every show that supports the left propaganda, especially Jimmy Kimmel and his buddy, bug eyes, Stephen Colbert, not to mention boycott Hollywood films of mafioso, Robert Dinero, constipated Tom Hanks, cave mouth, Julia Roberts, and many more pathetic idiots….and also the academy awards. It’s about time that these entitled arrogant demigods are brought down to earth where they belong.
