Losing a loved one is the hardest thing to go through. Some people deal with it by burying themselves with work. But others take time away from their careers to mourn and reflect. A Fox News anchor revealed on social media that their unexplained absence was due to a huge personal loss.

Anita Vogel has served as the Los Angeles-based correspondent on Fox News for over 20 years. She joined the network in 2001. She was often seen on The Big Weekend Show until late 2025. The Fox News anchor took to social media to reveal the heartbreaking reason viewers haven’t seen her on the show.

“After surviving the Palisades Fire in January, we then lost my beloved husband to complications of pancreatic cancer in October. It has been the hardest of times for our family. I’ve taken several months off to deal with the unimaginable loss and by the grace of God we are moving forward one day at a time,” she wrote on a social media post announcing her return to Fox News.

“Part of the healing journey includes slowly getting back to work to help bring a sense of normalcy and so that’s what I’m now doing,” she added.

Pancreatic cancer is often called the “Silent Killer” because it can progress without symptoms until it’s too advanced for treatment. Anita Vogel’s husband’s cancer progressed quickly. Her social media followers took to the comments to share their heartfelt condolences.

Many of the Fox News host’s social media followers had personal experience about losing a loved one to pancreatic cancer. Husbands, wives, sisters, brother – everyone is affected by the fast-moving illness. Anita Vogel took the time to grieve everything she’s lost. Now, she’s back at Fox News, where her co-hosts are like family.
