CBS News Cuts Ties With Contributor Named In Epstein Files
The Department of Justice has been slowly releasing the Epstein files from a previous investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged sex trafficking ring. The DOJ just dumped another 3 million documents, which included many unredacted emails. One of the people caught in several disturbing email exchanges was a contributor to CBS News. The outlet cut ties with the contributor named in the files. Keep reading for more details.

Many people thought the release of the Epstein files would include a client list of an alleged sex trafficking ring. Jeffrey Epstein was awaiting federal charges of sex trafficking in 2019 when he was found dead in his jail cell in New York City. He was previously convicted of prostitution charges.

The first files related to the case were heavily redacted. However, the Department of Justice released millions of new files last week. The majority of the files are emails between Jeffrey Epstein and various high-profile people. One name appeared in the files over 1,000 times.
Peter Attia is a doctor and researcher who focuses on how to live longer. He was named one of the contributors to the rebranded CBS News. However, he had previously worked with the network. A rerun of an October 60 Minutes episode was supposed to air during the Super Bowl.
The episode was an interview between Norah O’Donnell and Peter Attia on his longevity research. However, CBS News pulled the episode from the schedule after Peter Attia’s name was discovered in the Epstein files over 1,700 times. A different segment will air instead.

This isn’t the first time 60 Minutes pulled an episode at the last minute. The network came under fire in December for pulling an episode about the Trump administration’s deportations to a prison in El Salvador. The episode aired at a later date.
He Issues Lengthy Apology
While CBS aired the prison episode eventually, viewers may not see Peter Attia again. The network is reportedly considering cutting ties with the celebrity doctor completely. The news division’s new editor-in-chief, Bari Weiss, announced earlier this month that the network was bringing in dozens of special correspondents.

Peter Attia was included in that, but the backlash from the Epstein connection may cause CBS News to drop him. The longevity expert issues a lengthy apology on social media after the files were released.
“At that point in my career, I had little exposure to prominent people, and that level of access was novel to me. Everything about him seemed excessive and exclusive, including the fact that he lived in the largest home in all of Manhattan, owned a Boeing 727, and hosted parties with the most powerful and prominent leaders in business and politics,” he said in part. The CBS News correspondent is among the first to face real-life consequences after being named in the Epstein files.
