‘The View’ Sara Haines Called Recent ICE Shooting A ‘Reminder’
The co-hosts of The View have made it their job to discuss various current events at the table. Of course, the recent ICE shooting in Minnesota was an episode’s “hot topic.” In particular, Sara Haines heavily weighed in on the story, even warning that what happened could be a “reminder.”
Sara Haines Weighed In Heavily
As a journalist, Haines has worked with a number of outlets. This includes Today, ABC News, and Good Morning America.
To many, however, Haines is best known for her work as a co-host on The View. She became a permanent co-host on the show during its 20th season around 2016.

During a few recent episodes of The View, the co-hosts had taken to discussing the fatal shooting of a Minnesota woman, Renee Nicole Good, by an ICE officer while in a moving vehicle. Protests have since sparked in light of the shooting, with various outlets weighing in on the story.
After previously discussing the story, it once again became a “hot topic” during the January 12th, 2026, episode of The View. Moderator Whoopi Goldberg opened up the discussion, focusing on the deadly exchange.
Haines felt that there was a need for peace amid protests concerning ICE raids across the country. Analyzing footage from the scene, Haines also shared, “[The ICE agent] was also holding a phone up while he was holding his weapon. These are all things they shouldn’t be doing.”
As footage showed, Good and her wife exchanged words with the officers before Good was shot and killed as she attempted to drive away from the site. At the time, her vehicle initially stretched horizontally across the road.
Reiterating the importance of peace, Haines continued, “A reminder, as this is happening in our country, we have to have peaceful protests.” She added, “Any time you have someone that’s obstructing or cutting people off — she does not deserve to be dead, but that is also creating this situation of a tinderbox. This is why we’re seeing more shootings right now.”
During The Discussion, Haines’ Co-Hosts Also Weighed In On The Shooting
Haines also emphasized the importance of recording these moments. However, she added, “But the fact that she was cutting off the road also contributed to the heat of this situation.”
Goldberg initially countered Haines, saying she didn’t know why Good was there, sharing that she had heard she had just dropped her kid off. However, Haines claimed that videos shared that she and “her partner” wanted to “notify the public” about the ICE officers, suggesting she intended the way she parked.

Sunny Hostin also countered this, sharing she felt Good’s shooting was illegal. She added, “That was an unlawful killing. It was illegal, from a legal perspective,” citing Tennessee v. Garner. As noted by the Justia U.S. Supreme Court Center, under this ruling, officers may only use deadly force on moving vehicles if the suspect proved to be a serious threat.
As previously reported, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem also weighed in on what happened, calling Good’s actions an “act of domestic terrorism,” claiming she was targeting ICE agents. During the recent broadcast of The View, Ana Navarro called Noem’s assessment “clownish.”
