A beloved television chef has tragically passed away at the tender age of 49. The heartbreaking news has also been shared by a prominent Food Network star. Many Viewers Were Introduced To The Chef Through America’s Test Kitchen

America’s Test Kitchen is a cooking show broadcast by public television stations. On the show, a handful of test cooks are filmed in a real, working test kitchen. The show’s studios are based in Massachusetts, but it is produced by WETA-TV in Washington, D.C.

Recently, it was announced that a beloved chef who was part of the show died at the age of 49. The news was shared on social media for fans and followers to be in the know.

Food Network and Top Chef star Carla Hall recently shared that America’s Test Kitchen alum Elle Simone Scott had passed away. Sharing a photo of Scott holding an Alvin & the Chipmunks Christmas record, Hall dubbed Scott “a friend, a force, and a trailblazer.”

America’s Test Kitchen‘s Chief Content Officer Honors Scott’s Legacy

Hall continued to highlight how important Scott’s role was in being part of America’s Test Kitchen. As she noted, she “helped open doors that had long been closed—becoming one of the first Black women audiences saw in the test kitchen, and doing so with grace, authority, and joy.”

Hall also talked about Elle’s legacy, stating it would live on through cooks who watched and were inspired by her.

During the share, Hall added that Scott had faced ovarian cancer before her death. However, she noted Scott used her platform to “educate, advocate, and uplift,” even when she was fighting for her own life. Hall ended the post saying, “Rest well, my sister.”

Since the news has come out, many other famous cooking personalities have shared tributes towards Scott. Food Network star Kardea Brown touched on meeting Scott while on The Chew. She shared, “She was the first black female food stylist I’d ever met. I was in complete awe of her.”

America’s Test Kitchen Chief Content Officer Dan Souza also shared, “Friends and colleagues will remember Scott for her ability to create community and provide opportunities for others, both inside and outside of work.” Souza continued that Scott’s legacy would live on through the show, as well as the hearts and homes of those who knew her story.

  1. enjoyed Americas Test Kitchen cooking shows featuring Elle with my daughter Kristin. We would try to use her technics as we cooked ..RIP
