‘General Hospital’: Chad Duell Is Back, What’s Next?
Viewers recently saw Chad Duell leave General Hospital early last year. While fans saw Michael return to Port Charles, Duell was a different story. However, fans recently got an update from the actor, including a recent return of sorts. So, what did he have to say?
Chad Duell Announced His General Hospital Departure Back In November 2024
Duell became known to many as Michael Corinthos on General Hospital. He took over the role from Drew Garrett, with Duell first playing Michael in 2010.
However, in late 2024, Duell announced that he would be leaving the soap. Toward the start of 2025, Michael made the decision to leave Port Charles, New York, heading to a specialized burn unit in Germany to heal from the aftermath of an explosion.
Later in May of that year, Michael returned for the Nurses Ball. However, he wasn’t wearing Duell’s face. Rather, Rory Gibson of The Young and the Restless fame took over the role.
Recently, Duell also appeared to be taking a break from social media. However, he recently returned with a message for fans.
One of Duell’s first posts in 2026 had him wishing his fans a happy New Year. He started things out by noting he had been absent from the platform, writing, “Been off the socials for a while… always good to do a bit of a break from all the noise.”
Duell Donned A Cowboy Look For His New Year’s Message
While not getting into specifics, Duell hinted that he’s hoping for big things with the new year. As he wrote, “Hope everyone had a good holiday season.. Happy New Year… next one’s gonna be a good one.”
In the accompanying photo, Duell could be seen wearing a white tank, jeans, and a black cowboy hat. Standing outside, he could be seen standing next to what appeared to be a fence.

Around two weeks prior, Duell also shared a teaser for his interview with The Able Show. According to the caption, the conversation focused on various shows throughout his career, from Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place to General Hospital.
Taking to the comments of Duell’s more recent posts, fans shared that they were happy to hear from him. A few are hoping that he will soon announce a new project, with some hoping for some return to General Hospital. That said, others are content with watching him enjoy life. Some comments include:

- “Happy New Year, Chad!! Definitely miss you on GH. Wishing you and your sweet family all of life’s blessings.”
- “Happy New Year. Sometimes you just need a break from the noise.”
- “I miss and can wait for your come back into acting again, whether it’s movies or TV series. It will all be nice cause it will give us a chance to appreciate and watch your work.”
