‘The View’ Alyssa Farah Griffin Defends Trump, Fans Livid
The View recently returned from its holiday break. As the co-hosts have returned to weighing in on current events, one in particular has sparked criticism from viewers: Alyssa Farah Griffin, following a discussion concerning President Donald Trump. Since then, fans have been sharing their reactions on social media.
Alyssa Farah Griffin Had A History In Politics Before She Joined The View
Griffin has a background as a political strategist. Notably, she previously served as the White House director of strategic communications and Assistant to the President in 2020 during President Donald Trump’s first tenure as commander-in-chief.
In recent years, however, Griffin has established herself as a television personality. In 2022, she became a permanent co-host on The View after previously appearing as a guest host.

President Donald Trump and military action in Venezuela, including the capture of President Nicolás Maduro, became a topic of discussion during a recent episode of The View. At one point, Joy Behar, after calling Maduro a “bad guy,” asked if similar actions are going to be taken against Kim Jong Un or Vladimir Putin.
Sunny Hostin, feeling that Maduro still “was an illegitimate president,” still shared that, “The way he was removed from that country matters… The way we did it was against international criminal laws.”
Griffin’s Comments Inspired Both Critics & Defenders Online
Griffin tried to chime in, with Hostin adding, “It’s against the United Nations. We can’t do it!” However, Griffin countered, “We’ve done it for years,” citing Muammar Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein.
Griffin continued, also noting the importance of a good plan to avoid disaster, but was soon cut off. Whoopi Goldberg then tried to calm the situation, saying, “OK, OK, OK, everybody.”

As previously reported, Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were captured on January 3. At this time, President Trump launched a series of airstrikes against the Venezuelan capital of Caracas and neighboring states.
As noted by The New York Times, a senior Venezuelan official shared that the death count from the attack has risen to 80. This number includes civilians and members of security forces.
Taking to social media, from X to YouTube, fans have been sharing their reactions to Griffin’s share. Some disagreed with what she was saying, while others came to her defense. In particular, many felt that Griffin was cut off too often and didn’t get a chance to explain her full point. Some comments included:
- “Who hired Alyssa? when she’s not twisting her hair behind her ears and reading from her notes… She’s just a drag… she’s a turncoat. why would i listen to her weighing in?”
- “Alyssa, also doesn’t seem to care that the U.S. murdered 80 Venezuelans in the process of kidnapping Maduro!!! Everyone just shrugs at literally War Crimes!”
- “Alyssa, the Maduro Regime is STILL IN PLACE. There will be no change for the Venezuelan people.”
- “She tried saying that but Sunny, as usual, cuts Alyssa off and she doesn’t get to finish. I don’t like that about Sunny.”
