Barry Manilow Cancels Shows Amid Shocking Cancer Diagnosis
Barry Manilow is a singer with a career spanning decades, even recently finishing a few Christmas shows. However, the star recently shared a health update for fans on social media. This also comes out as Manilow had shows planned for January.
Barry Manilow Recently Shared A Message For Fans Ahead Of The Holidays
Manilow is a singer with a career spanning decades. Some of his well-known songs include “Could It Be Magic,” “Mandy,” “I Write the Songs,” and “Copacabana.”
Throughout his career, Manilow has worked on the music for a variety of projects, including films, musicals, and even commercials. He is also considered one of the world’s bestselling artists, having sold over 85 million records around the world as a solo artist.

Recently, taking to social media, Manilow shared a health update with fans. The statement opened up discussing the star’s recent shows, sharing, “We just finished five great Christmas concerts at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert.”
“This marks the seventh time we have done these charity concerts and raised millions for nonprofit organizations throughout the Coachella Valley. Thanks to everyone who bought tickets and celebrated these wonderful charities.”
It was then that Manilow shared that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer: “As many of you know, I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks. Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK.”
“The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed. It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early. That’s the good news.”
Manilow Also Shared Some Hope For His Big Valentine’s Day Weekend Shows
The singer shared that he will undergo surgery to “have the spot removed” now that his shows’ Christmas dates have finished. He also reassured fans that the treatment won’t be too strenuous: “The doctors do not believe it has spread, and I’m taking tests to confirm their diagnosis. So, that’s it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.”
However, Manilow noted that he will still need around a month to recover. This means his upcoming shows will be rescheduled.
