‘Bachelorette’ Star Worried Cancer Has Spread

Bachelorette Star Opens Up About Reality Of Cancer
According to statistics, two million people in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer each year. Imagine those numbers on a global scale. Cancer isn’t the death sentence it used to be, but it’s still pretty scary and a lifelong battle.
Bachelorette star Katie Thurston went to her doctor in early 2025 after finding a lump in her breast. She initially thought it was a swollen lymph node and ignored it for months. The test results came back as positive for breast cancer. After a confusing misdiagnosis while living in San Diego, California, Katie Thurston got a shocking update when she moved across the country.
She was initially told the cancer was Stage 3. However, further testing revealed that it was Stage 4 and had spread to her liver. The former reality star immediately jumped into a treatment plan. Her last tests revealed that the liver cancer is basically non-existent after treatment.
During all of this, Katie Thurston finally tied the knot with her fiance, comedian Jeff Arcuri. The couple got engaged in the summer of 2024, months before she found out she had cancer. He is a huge support system for her. However, she candidly admitted that her cancer can cause a strain on her relationships with friends and her husband.
In an interview with Self magazine, she opened up about how intimacy can be difficult due to her cancer medications. “I’m going to be so blunt but the time that Jeff and I finally decided to be intimate, we really had to go so slowly, make sure there was lubricant, and pause and be like, ‘Wait, wait, wait’ a bunch of different times.”
Katie Thurston Worried Cancer Has Spread
Katie Thurston shares updates about her cancer battle on the Boobie Broadcast Instagram channel. In her most recent update, she opened up about her fear that the cancer has spread. The former Bachelorette star said that she gets a searing pain in her left side. While she knows there could be a reason unrelated to cancer, she can’t help but worry.
In addition to the pain in her side, she’s been feeling under the weather with a lingering cough for weeks. Katie Thurston did get an X-ray on her chest, which came back clear. She shared that she’s been “self-diagnosing” the pain. She sought help online but the suggestions came back that it was cancer, which definitely wasn’t what she wanted to hear.
The Bachelorette star shared that she’s in Boston and planned to see a chiropractor before she left, hoping that would help the pain. If it doesn’t, she plans to follow up with her oncologist in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more updates on her cancer battle.
