Grandfather & Infant Granddaughter Killed In ‘Brutal’ Pit Bull Attack
A tragic attack left a grandfather and his infant granddaughter dead. The two were viciously attacked by pit bulls. The horrifying attack has shaken the community. Officials involved in the incident ask for prayers from the community after the “brutal” attack.
Grandfather & Infant Granddaughter Killed In ‘Brutal’ Pit Bull Attack
A 50-year-old man and his infant granddaughter are dead after being mauled by two pit bulls. Police were called to a residence in Tullahoma, Tennessee, after receiving a call about an “apparent mauling.” A neighbor, Brian Kirby, told Fox News 8 that he saw a woman screaming in the middle of the street. The police arrived shortly after that.

The scene inside the house was horrific. According to reports, the police witnessed the 3-month-old baby getting mauled by two pit bulls when they entered the residence. The dogs were killed to stop the attack. The officials described the scene as “brutal.” They said it was “obvious that both the grandfather and his granddaughter were dead.
According to the neighbors, the family owned seven dogs. The pit bulls involved in the attack were killed. The rest were taken by animal control while the police work to determine who owns the dogs and whether they will face charges.
Police Investigating Deaths
James Alexander Smith, 50, and his infant granddaughter died in one of the most horrible ways imaginable. However, the police aren’t sure about the details.

Officials are reportedly investigating “whether the mauling was postmortem, past violent history with these or other dogs in the home, current or past issues related to the children requiring intervention by the Department of Children’s Services and other potential issues that may have contributed to this situation.”
Official Asks For Prayers For First Responders
According to the neighbor, the attack on the grandfather and his granddaughter wasn’t the first time the dogs attacked. Brian Kirby claimed that the dogs killed his cat and he was planning to file a police report prior to the incident.
District Attorney General Craig Northcott released a statement asking for prayers for the victims, the families, and the first responders. “Please pray for the family of the victims in this difficult time as well as the first responders as they cope with the trauma from what they witnessed.”

Someone close to the family created a GoFundMe to raise money to pay for the funerals. According to the GoFundMe, the family of the victims lost their home shortly after the pit bull attack.
“To make things even harder, the family home was taken away shortly after the tragedy. They lost not only two precious lives, but also their home, their belongings, and their sense of security — all within hours. Memaw is now trying to care for the six remaining children, who suddenly have no clothes, no beds, and nowhere to go,” the GoFundMe said.
Nearly $45,000 has been donated to help the grieving family but no amount of money can bring back James Alexander Smith and his infant granddaughter.
