Woman Found Dead In Woods Weeks After Going Missing
A local community came together to search for a missing pregnant woman. Rebecca Park, 22, was last seen on November 3 when she left her adopted mother’s home. She was missing for weeks before her body was discovered.
A search crew found the young woman’s body on November 25 in the woods in Manistee National Forest, Michigan. Her baby had been cut out of her womb. They were both left for dead in the dirt.
In a shocking turn, Rebecca Park’s biological mother and stepfather were arrested for the crime. Shocking details came out about the murder during their recent court appearance. It’s worse than you can imagine.
Mom Arrested, Charged With Stabbing Pregnant Daughter, Ripping Baby From Womb
Prosecutors believe that Rebecca Park’s stepfather took her to the home he shares with her biological mother. From there, she was kidnapped in another vehicle and taken to the woods.
They stabbed her, forced her to lie on the ground while they cut her baby out, and ultimately caused her death and the death of the baby. They then left Rebecca in the woods,” Wexford County Prosecutor Johanna Carey told the court, per PEOPLE magazine.
The prosecutor revealed that the woman’s mother and stepfather researched the crime before allegedly committing it. “This is, frankly, evil personified,” the prosecutor told the judge.
Cortney Bartholomew and Bradly Bartholomew face multiple charges. They were each charged with first-degree murder, felony murder, torture, conspiracy to commit torture, assault on a pregnant individual causing miscarriage/stillbirth and conspiracy to commit assault on a pregnant individual causing miscarriage/stillbirth.
Furthermore, they face charges of unlawful imprisonment and removal of a dead body. If found guilty, they could get life in prison for the alleged murder.
More Family Members Under Arrest
Rebecca Park’s fiance, Richard Falor, was arrested on the same day as her body was found on two charges of delivering methamphetamine. Her sister, Kimberly Park, was also arrested. She was charged with tampering with evidence, lying to a police officer and filing a false report. However, the police didn’t reveal if those charges are related to her sister’s murder.
Cortney Bartholomew posted an audio video on social media on the day her biological daughter was supposed to give birth. “My alibi of where I was the night my daughter came up missing,” she captioned the video of her son, 14, saying that she was home when he went to bed the night Rebecca Park went missing and was home when he woke up.
“I know that she never goes out and about when I’m sleeping just because she doesn’t like to drive at night,” the young boy can be heard saying in the audio clip. However, the alibi wasn’t strong enough to prevent the police from arresting Rebecca Park’s biological mom. A motive for the crime wasn’t revealed.
