Gwen Stefani Taking Over Mariah Carey’s Coveted Spot
Mariah Carey is a powerhouse performer who very few other artists can compare to. She’s topped the charts for decades. But some fans believe that Gwen Stefani is about to take over her coveted spot.
Mariah Carey Reigns As Queen Of Christmas
Mariah Carey had her first hit song in 1990 with “Vision of Love.” Nearly every song she’s released in the last 35 years has landed in the Top 10 on music charts. But she took it to a whole new level in 1994 with the release of her holiday album, Merry Christmas, and its iconic single “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

In recent years, radios playing the hit song mark the beginning of the holiday season. A popular online joke is that Mariah Carey starts “defrosting” around Halloween before announcing “It’s Time” on November 1st. She’s the unofficial “Queen of Christmas.”
Gwen Stefani Taking Over Coveted Spot
Gwen Stefani was still in high school when she joined her brother’s band, No Doubt. The band formed in 1986 but didn’t hit it big until nearly a decade later. By then, her brother had left the band. No Doubt hit it big in 1996 with two big hits, “Just a Girl” and “Don’t Speak.”

The band went on hiatus in 2004 while Gwen Stefani pursued a solo career. No Doubt has reunited several times over the years. They’re scheduled for a handful of shows at The Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada, in May 2026.
In the meantime, Gwen Stefani has continued to release new music. She released a deluxe edition of her 2017 holiday album, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas.” The new edition includes two new songs, “Hot Cocoa” and “Shake the Snow Globe.”
She performed both during NBC’s Christmas in Rockefeller Center special on December 3. Gwen Stefani’s fans praised her performance on social media. One fan issued a warning to Mariah Carey. “Gwen Stefani is the new ‘Queen of Christmas.’ Look out, Mariah!!!”

What Christmas Songs Mean To Her
Gwen Stefani is definitely in the holiday spirit this year. She’s been on a promotional tour for weeks for her new album release. She stopped at KOST 1035 to chat about the deluxe album.
The No Doubt singer shared what Christmas music means to her. “When Christmas comes around, you feel so nostalgic and so like those songs are part of your life,” she said.
Gwen Stefani added, “I think regular albums do that as well, but with this you only get to hear it that one time of year, so it makes it even more special or something. You miss it more.”
“I think anybody that writes music would want to have a Christmas hit. That’s the ultimate win, in a sense, to be a part of people’s Christmas,” she continued.
