Comedian Amy Schumer is setting the record straight about dropping 50 pounds after being diagnosed with a deadly disease. She also finally responded to rumors about her marriage. Keep reading for all the details.

Amy Schumer Diagnosed With Deadly Disease

Amy Schumer first came to the public’s attention when she came in fourth place on Last Comic Standing in 2007. Her resume now boasts many movies, stand-up specials, and more. The comedian turns real-life events into comedy. But there was nothing funny about being diagnosed with a deadly disease.

In 2024, she revealed that she had been diagnosed with Cushing syndrome after she had been called “moon face” on social media. The speculation about her change in appearance led her to the doctor, where she was diagnosed with the disease. Cushing syndrome causes the body to produce too much cortisol, often resulting in a puffy face. If left untreated, it can be deadly.

In a social media post addressing more speculation about her weight loss, Amy Schumer seemingly referenced the disease. She posted a reel on Instagram giving fans a house tour with her young son, Gene, 6. She overlayed the video with comments about her appearance and her response.

“I had a disease that makes your face extremely puffy that can kill you, but the internet caught it, and the disease has cleared,” she shared. She also addressed her weight loss, clarifying that she’s lost 50 pounds, not 30.

She Defends Her 50-Lb Weight Loss

Amy Schumer shut down rumors that she gets Botox or fillers. She also slammed speculation about why she lost 50 pounds. “Not to look hot which does feel fun and temporary. I did it to survive,” she wrote, seemingly referencing Cushing syndrome.

“Sorry for whatever feeling it’s giving you that I lost that weight,” Amy Schumer wrote to her haters. The comedian admitted to having plastic surgery in the past and using weight loss drugs to lose weight. “Sorry to anyone that lets down,” she apologized.

But she’s not really sorry about losing the weight. She said it makes it easier to live “pain free” and play with her son. She welcomed Gene in 2019 with her husband, Chris Fischer. There has been speculation that a divorce is on the horizon.

Addresses Divorce Rumors

Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer tied the knot in 2018 in a star-studded ceremony in Malibu, California. The comedian recently sparked speculation of a split after being spotted without her wedding ring. She briefly addressed the rumors, confirming that the marriage is in trouble, but still hoping to work it out.

“Whatever ends up happening with Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism. Fingers crossed we can make it through, he’s the best,” Amy Schumer wrote in the Instagram video.

Fans noticed that the Trainwreck movie purged her Instagram of photos from before she lost 50 pounds. “Girl! Why did you delete your old pics and reels?! 😂❤️❤️ I loved the range,” one fan wrote on one of Amy Schumer’s posts. However, the comedian has yet to explain why she removed many old photos. It could be she’s ready to start a new chapter as a divorced mom.
