Texas Student Mauled To Death By 3 Pit Bulls While Babysitting

A college student in Texas recently lost her life after being mauled to death while watching three pit bulls. The student, who was also babysitting at the time, was 23 at the time of her death. Since the tragic incident, her family has called on people for help.

The Student Shared With Her Mother That The Dogs Were Acting Unusual Prior To Her Death

Madison Riley Hull was found dead in the backyard of a residential home in Tyler, Texas, on November 21, 2025. The 23-year-old, who was a student at the University of Texas at Tyler, was found around 4:15 PM local time.

A neighbor had called 911 around the time of the incident, gaining a response from the Smith County Sheriff’s Office. At that point, three pit bulls had already attacked Madison.

Speaking with KYTX, Sgt. Larry Christian, a public information officer with the sheriff’s office, described the situation as the neighbor got involved. He shared, “The dogs then diverted their attention. All three of them to him. Started coming toward him, and he unholstered his weapon, service weapon, and he fired at one of the dogs, killing it.”

Madison’s mother, Jennifer Hubbell, also described the situation, saying, “I just dropped to my knees.” She also shared that her daughter noticed something unusual about the dogs’ behavior. She noted, “She said that they hadn’t always been that way. It was like a change in behavior.”

At the time of the incident, Madison was also caring for the homeowners’ children for weeks. Hubbell noted, “They just really seemed to love her, and that’s why she thought her looking after the dogs would be an okay situation.”

It’s unclear if Madison was watching the children at the time the incident occurred. Authorities also confirmed that the homeowners were out of town at the time of the incident.

Madison was just six months away from earning her bachelor’s degree at the time of her death. She had been specializing in early childhood education. According to her mother, she was inspired by her brother, who grew up with autism.

On Smash Da Topic‘s social media, it was noted that the dog’s owner has surrendered them for humane euthanasia. Investigators are also looking into potential charges against the owner.

Since Madison’s death, her family has also started a GoFundMe account. Her mother shared, “I am shattered in a way I didn’t know a human being could break. My beautiful, full of love, full of life, free-spirited daughter was killed in a sudden and vicious dog attack.”

A Celebration Of Life Has Also Been Held In Madison’s Honor

The statement continued, “Madi was love, she was light, she was kindness, she was laughter, she was fierce in the most beautiful and disarming way. She loved life with her whole heart and moved through the world with a free-spirit that lifted those around her.”

The family had hoped to raise money to honor Madison’s memory, noting, “We’ve created this GoFundMe for those who want to support us as we try to do the impossible-honor Madison’s life and lay her to rest with the love and dignity she deserves.

The statement continued, “Funds will go toward funeral and memorial expenses and giving her the beautiful farewell her bright spirit deserves.” According to her obituary, a celebration of life in Madison’s honor was held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Hilliard Funeral Home.
