When respected journalist Barbara Walters created The View in 1997, she envisioned a female-led talk show with hosts from various political backgrounds. But over the years, the show has leaned left as the majority of hosts were Democrats. But the morning show recently started welcoming Republicans after cries of unfairness. An insider revealed why the sudden change.

Study Reveals Shocking Truth About The View

The View began its 29th season in September after speculation that it was going to be canceled. The cancellation rumors came amid a growing backlash over the hosts constantly bashing President Trump.

Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin all returned as hosts despite the cancellation rumors. Fans noticed that Whoopi Goldberg took the week off, but it wasn’t due to her political outbursts.

Most of the hosts of the ABC talk show are anti-Trump, including lifelong Republican Ana Navarro. Despite the panel’s differing politics, The View mainly welcomed left-leaning or Democratic guests for much of 2025.

Fox News cited a shocking survey that found that the ABC talk show had over 100 liberal guests in early 2025 compared to 0 Republican guests. But once the show returned for a new season in September, the scales began to tip.

ABC Talk Show Boosts Lineup Of Republican Guests Amid Backlash

One of the first guests amid the change was actress Cheryl Hines, the wife of the current Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy. Robert F. Kennedy joined the Trump administration after a failed run for President. However, he’s come under fire for his comments regarding vaccines and other problematic statements.

The View hosts welcomed Cheryl Hines to promote her book on the show, but most of the conversation was about her husband’s controversial policies.

Senator John Fetterman was also a guest on The View. While he’s registered as a Democrat, he supports some of the policies of the Republican Party. The Senator was a huge advocate for the two sides reaching a deal during the government shutdown.

Public relations expert Grayce McCormick spoke to Daily Express US about what it means for The View to welcome Republican guests. “The View, often criticized for being an ideological bubble, is making a bold move by openly inviting more Republicans. This strategic shift signals that the show is not only listening to the criticism but also ready to broaden the conversation,” she told the outlet.

The public relations expert added, “It’s a repositioning moment that says, ‘We’re not afraid of disagreement — we welcome it.’

Right-Wing Congresswoman Berated By Trump After Appearing On The View

House Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene was a guest on The View earlier this month. She represents the state’s 14th District, including Dalton, Georgia. The longtime Trump supporter recently broke with the Republicans on health care premiums and the Epstein files. President Trump just signed a bill from Congress to release the files, but it was a long battle.

MTG’s perceived disloyalty was blasted by President Trump. He publicly called her out as a “traitor” for speaking out against certain Republican policies.

She revealed that she had to beef up her security team after threats on her life following the President’s words.

Welcoming a mix of guests from different ideologies aligns with the original intention of The View set by the late Barbara Walters. Tell us in the comments if the balanced political coverage makes you more likely to tune in to the ABC talk show.
