‘CBS Mornings’ Gayle King Begs For Job After Unexpected Firing
CBS Mornings is shaking things up in 2026 with major changes at the network. The news show is reportedly dropping Gayle King as co-anchor when her contract is up next year. That’s just one of many changes after CBS’s parent company, Paramount Global, merged with Skydance Media this summer.
During a recent TV appearance, she opened up about the rumors of her impending unemployment and begged for a job. Keep reading for the latest on the shocking firing.
CBS Mornings Host Gayle King Begs For Job After Unexpected Firing
News broke last month that CBS was looking to revamp its morning news program by dumping Gayle King for a more popular host. When confronted about the rumors in late October, the longtime host played coy. During a recent appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, she seemed to hint that the rumors were true.
One fan in the audience asked if Gayle King is leaving CBS or not. She responded in the same way as when she was previously confronted. “All I can say is, all, all I can say is I love my job. I hear one thing inside the building and hear something else outside of the building.”

She added, “So, I’m like, you know, all will be revealed. All will be revealed.”
When pressed by Andy Cohen, she confirmed that her contract is up in 2026. However, she refused to negotiate with the network through the media. Gayle King jokingly asked the Bravo host if he needed an assistant, hinting that she might be looking for a new job in the coming months.
She Talks Dating Advice With CBS Star Morris Chestnut
Gayle King, who has been divorced since 1993, recently shared the happy news that she’s getting a new grandbaby. Her son and his wife are expecting their first baby. Unlike her bestie Oprah Winfrey, who has been in a long-term relationship for decades, the CBS Mornings is as single as it gets.

She recently sat down at a Manhattan, New York, restaurant with actor Morris Chestnut for a chat about dating in 2025. The actor currently stars in Watson on CBS. He previously starred opposite the late actor Malcolm Jamal-Warner in Fox’s The Resident.
Morris Chestnut hasn’t been on a date in decades. He’s happily married to his wife of thirty years, Pam Byse. However, he was game to share dating advice with Gayle King for Oprah Daily.
The two discussed all aspects of dating, including the age-old question about intimacy on a first date. Morris Chestnut and Gayle King agreed that it was a “no” to sleeping together on the first date.
However, they disagreed about whether someone should date if they’re still hung up on their ex. Gayle King said she thought people should heal first and avoid dating if they’re hung up on an ex. On the other hand, Morris Chestnut saw nothing wrong with dating in that situation.
Gayle King promised on Watch What Happens Live that “all will be revealed” about her future at CBS soon. Stay tuned for more about that.
