25-Year-Old South Carolina Mom Begged For Help, Shot & Set On Fire
A South Carolina man was finally sentenced for murdering his girlfriend and the mother of his child in a sadistic way last year. He recently made a deal with prosecutors for his horrific acts.
On April 25, 2024, 28-year-old Jarrett Haskell Davis admitted to shooting and killing 25-year-old Megan Bodiford. A GoFundMe page said Bodiford had three daughters, ages 7, 4, and an infant 4 months old, when she died. Jarrett Haskell Davis, Bodiford’s boyfriend and the father of her baby, is 28 years old and has a long criminal record.
At the time of her death, the young mother’s daughters were 7, 4, and 4 months old. A cousin told local media FITSNEWS that she had “reached out for help” in her relationship with the suspect, who had an active warrant for domestic violence when the victim was killed. Friends said Davis would choke the sh*t out of her.
Young Mother Sends Disturbing Text Before Going Missing
Megan Bodiford was first reported missing after she’d sent a concerning text message to a friend that said, “If you don’t hear from me in 30 minutes, he killed me,” She also said “he had a gun”
Megan’s cousin said “If he would have been locked up the way that he was supposed to be the first time, maybe he wouldn’t have even gotten a chance to get this far with her,” she was talking about his open domestic violence warrant. The victim’s cousin also added, “It’s gut-wrenching because he did not have to do all of that at all,” saying, “I keep having this thought in my mind of how fearful she was in that moment.”
The Bamberg County Sheriff’s Office found a dead body in a burned car on April 30, after looking for him for almost a week. The remains were finally identified as Bodiford’s through an autopsy. They found the burned-out car about two miles from where she was last seen.
Jarrett Haskell Davis Has A Long Criminal History
Davis got 43 years in prison for murder, plus 15 years for third-degree arson, 10 years for desecrating or destroying human remains, and 5 years for having a gun during a violent crime. His cell phone helped take him down.
The GoFundMe has several beautiful pics of Megan and her young daughters. It has reached almost $8000.00. It reads: “These funds will go towards assisting with the children and family in the aftermath of Megan’s tragic death. Megan was a beloved mother to her three daughters, Tesla (7 years old), Ivy (4 years old), and Kylie (4 months old). She is greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her so deeply. It’s such a tragic and awful situation. It saddens me knowing that there are people out there that are capable of committing violent crimes especially a mother of small children. Thoughts and prayers to and for the deceased mother, her children, family and those closest to her.
