Fox News Anchor Quits To Regain Health After Mystery Illness
Fox News is the most-watched news program on cable. It has held the top spot for over two decades. But viewers won’t see one of the most popular anchors for a while. They quit amid mysterious health struggles. Keep reading to find out more about what led to the shocking decision.
Fox News Anchor Quits To Regain Health After Mystery Illness
Fox News was launched in 1996 by billionaire Rupert Murdoch to counter what he thought was a growing liberal news monopoly. The conservative news program quickly soared to the top of the ratings, where it has stayed since 2002.
Many of the network’s anchors are household names, including Janice Dean. She joined Fox News in 2004 as the meteorologist for Shepard Smith’s show. He coined the term “Janice Dean Weather Machine.”

She is now the network’s the senior meteorologist and the morning meteorologist for Fox & Friends. But viewers have had to get their weather reports from someone else in her recent absence. The Fox News anchor has been on a trip to Rome, Italy, with her husband and friends.
Janice Dean took to social media to share that she won’t return to Fox News for a while amid a mysterious health issue. “I wanted to let you all know that I’m taking a break from work (and social media) for a bit. I’m ok, but I’ve had some health issues that require rest and time to heal,” she wrote.
She added that Fox News has been “understanding” of her need to take a step back from the network. “The trip to Rome with Sean was a good place to start healing spiritually, and now I have to get back to feeling healthy and strong,” Janice Dean said about why she decided to take a break.

She Previously Spoke Out About Multiple Sclerosis Diagnosis
The longtime Fox News meteorlogist reportedly lives in Long Island, New York. But Janice Dean isn’t saying goodbye to the network for good. I will be back. Grateful to you all for the kind words,” she wrote.
Janice Dean didn’t share details about her current health struggles that caused her to take a step back from Fox News. However, she’s been open about battling multiple sclerosis. She was first diagnosed with the autoimmune disease after waking up to numbness in her feet and thighs. An MRI and spinal tap revealed the unexpected diagnosis.
But instead of dwelling on it, Janice Dean became an unlikely spokesperson to raise awareness about MS. She reflected on how the diagnosis changed her life in a PEOPLE magazine cover story last year.
“I sometimes think I’m a better person because of the diagnosis, if that makes any sense. This made me realize what was important in life, like your health and your family and your support system,” she told the outlet.
The Fox News anchor’s social media followers rallied around her with well-wishes after she announced the leave of absence. With fans and her faith by her side, Janice Dean will be back on the news program soon.
