‘The View’ Sunny Hostin Rebukes Own Party, Demands Replacements
After over a month of a standoff, the Democrats and Republicans in the Senate came to an agreement to end the government shutdown. The View host Sunny Hostin went off on her own party and demanded replacements amid the controversial Senate vote.
Sunny Hostin Goes Head-To-Head With Senator John Fetterman
John Fetterman represents Pennsylvania in the U.S. Senate. He was among the seven Democrats and one Independent who voted with the Republicans to sign the “Big Beautiful Bill” that’s kept the Senate deadlocked for over forty days.

A day after the bill went through, he joined The View to talk about it. The panel of hosts heavily leans Left. Several of the hosts strongly disagreed with the decision to give in to the Republicans. Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sara Haines were all for it.
Sunny Hostin lit into the Senator during Tuesday’s episode. “Poll after poll found more Americans on both sides of the aisle blaming Republicans. Even Marjorie Taylor Greene blamed the GOP!” she said.
Sunny Hostin added, “As you mentioned, Democrats had big wins last week. So you had momentum. Why give in now? Why bring a butter knife to a gunfight?!”
It’s a question many Democrats are asking themselves right now.
The View Host Rebukes Own Party, Demands Replacements
In many ways, Senator Chuck Schumer is the face of the Democratic Party. He’s been the leader of the Senate Democratic Caucus since 2017 and served as Senate majority leader from 2021 to 2025.
He was one of the strongest supporters of keeping the government shut until the Republicans agreed not to increase healthcare premiums. Senator Schumer has taken much of the backlash for the deal between the Republicans and Democrats that doesn’t address the healthcare premiums.

Sunny Hostin unloaded on the Senator during The View. “I want an opposition party. I think the Democrats caved.” She went on to say that the Democrats “let down the American people.”
The working people want the Democratic Party to fight for them. And now, they just caved and surrendered. I think Chuck Schumer — his days are over. And if he cannot keep his caucus together, he needs to go. He needs to be replaced,” she added.
The View host called Senator Schumer out to his face in March when he voted for the Republicans’ spending bill. “It gives me no pleasure to say this to you, because we are friends, but I think you caved. I think you and nine other Democrats caved,” she told him.
Sunny Hostin isn’t the only Democrat who thinks Chuck Schumer should resign as the party’s leader after the shocking vote. Tell us in the comments whether you think the Democrats did the right thing, or if they “caved” under pressure.
