Norm Feigenbaum- Sunny -ABC News Youtube

A 93-year-old man named Norm Feigenbaum from West Hills, California, lost his best friend, a 7-year-old yellow lab named Sunny. His furbaby rescue was always with him since he had rescued her.

On October 14, Sunny jumped a wall in his backyard after Norm left to go to the store; Sunny tried to catch up with him. The house was quiet when Norm got home. He knew she was missing and felt terrible because he didn’t know where she could have gone or how he would even find her. Sheryl, his friend, called Dog Days Search & Rescue, and the rescue team went right away to put up posters saying ‘do not chase’, ’93-year-old owner missing his best friend.’ Norm also rode his scooter around town and handed out flyers.

Sunny Finally Spotted After A Long Week

The rescue team got a lead after a week, a woman had seen Sunny in a nature preserve about a mile from Feigenbaum’s house in West Hills, California. But there were coyotes and not enough water in the reserve, which made it especially dangerous for Sunny. So the Dog Days Rescue set traps to bring Sunny home. Sunny took an interest in the traps, and they even have her on video when they caught her smelling her owner’s stinky socks.

Norm’s Dirty Socks Brought His Bestfriend Home

Feigenbaum told ABC News that Sunny was interested in the traps for a very specific reason. He said, “The whole thing is probably due to my smelly socks, actually,”

Some people might not like the smell of Feigenbaum’s dirty socks, but Sunny liked the smell of her best friend’s socks. Dog Days & Rescue set up a trail of socks that led to a trap. Sunny was saved 30 minutes later. The special moment was caught on video. The caption on the Rescue page above the video said: “After 13 days lost and a team exhausted from sleepless nights…this was the longest and best 45 seconds for our team. Everyone held their breath. Wait for it…Good Girl Sunny!”

On the Dog Days Search & Rescue Facebook page, they said:
“In addition to taking Sunny to the vet, our team also took her to get a bath shortly after.
We used one of the self bathing stations and gave her a little spa treatment that she loved. We wanted to get all of that reservoir dirt off of her and let her be the pretty lady she is.
She loved it, even if she looks like she did not LOL and she was a very good girl!”
