‘Law & Order’ Star Rescues New Jersey Girl From Abduction

A star from Law & Order was on the way home from dinner when they came upon a strange scene outside their New Jersey home. They saw what looked like an abduction attempt. The actor didn’t hesitate to jump into action and rescue the girl. Keep reading for all the details on the scary situation.

Mariska Hargitay isn’t the only star from the Law & Order franchise to advocate for crime victims. A day player who appeared on two episodes of the flagship show saved a young girl from an alleged abduction.

George Pogatsia starred in two episodes of Law & Order between 2004 and 2008. According to his IMDb, the actor played a court officer. While he doesn’t have real-life experience fighting crime, he didn’t hesitate to act when he saw an alleged abduction happening right in front of him.

According to TMZ, the actor was coming home from dinner with his wife. The couple stumbled upon a strange interaction in front of their home in New Jersey. A man approached a young girl and tried to get her to leave with him. The man spoke Spanish, which George Pogatsia’s wife understood. According to his wife, the girl didn’t know the man.

The man allegedly started pulling the girl “down the street.” At this point, the actor told his wife to go inside and call the police. George Pogatsia followed the young girl and her alleged abductor down the street.

What Happened Next

The Law & Order alum shared more details about the incident with PEOPLE magazine. He claimed that the alleged abductor told the girl, “If the cops come, they’re going to call ICE. They’re going to deport you.” When she tried to get away, he picked her up and put her on his shoulder.

As the situation escalated, George Pogatsia said he intervened by telling the man to put the girl down several times. The alleged abductor let the girl go after he actor threatened to beat him up. 

The alleged would-be abductor ran away. George Pogatsia briefly followed them before returning to the scene to tell the police what he witnessed.

“All I cared about was that the girl was safe. That was my number 1 priority,” the actor told PEOPLE magazine. He added, “She was just a 19-year-old girl. She was tiny, I mean, less than 5 feet tall.”

“The guy was definitely [trying to] abduct her. It was pretty scary. He was a big guy — bigger than me — and you know, I have a little girl, I have a wife, I have a couple of sisters … The guy had bad intentions. It was obvious. And I just wouldn’t be able to live with myself, honestly [if I didn’t help],” George Pogatsia told the outlet.
