After decades in movies and television shows, she just won her first Emmy Award. The Drew Barrymore Show took home Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host at the 2025 Daytime Emmy Awards. Drew Barrymore beat out heavy-hitters like Kelly Clarkson and Hoda Kotb to take home the top prize. Live With Kelly and Mark took home Outstanding Daytime Talk Series at the awards last month.

She Gets Therapist To Deal With Her New Physical Changes

Drew Barrymore’s daytime talk show premiered in 2020. She’s come under fire sometimes for getting too close for comfort to her guests. Despite the strange behavior, her talk show brings in high ratings.

In addition to her television career, the actress recently signed on with the Garnier cosmetics company to promote their line of hair color. Drew Barrymore turned 50 earlier this year and is dealing with changes to her body. She spoke to PEOPLE magazine about the unorthodox way she handles menopause symptoms.

“Everyone said it would be trial and error, and I just went through a lot of error. I did not recognize the person I saw in the mirror. I was like, ‘Is that the crypt keeper? No, that’s me,’” the 50 First Dates actress said about her changing appearance.

She added, “I just didn’t feel good about myself.”

She enlisted a therapist to help her feel more like herself and less of a “crypt keeper.” Drew Barrymore told the outlet, “My therapist and mentor Dr. Barry Michels helped me write out a list of seven healthy habits for me that work, and I just get back to that list.”

“I got a little walking pad that I stuffed under my couch, and now when I eat on the couch, I get on the walking pad for 10 minutes and keep watching my show. I also started waking up 10 minutes earlier because I always felt like the last 10 minutes of getting my kids out the door for school was hell on wheels,” the actress shared about the “little steps” she takes to feel better about herself.

Changing Her Mindset, Too

She shared more about her self-care philosophy. “I was like, ‘Okay, you can stay stuck in this s—– pattern, or you can fix it by doing everything 10 minutes earlier and seeing how it feels.’ It’s still not perfect, but it’s a little bit better,” Drew Barrymore said.

Her mental health is just as important as her physical health.

“I think trying to also be a little kinder to ourselves mentally and not speaking so negatively inside of our own heads has been a huge help for how good I feel about myself,” she said about her new mindset.

Many women who grew up watching Drew Barrymore on screen are going through their own menopause journey now. Let us know in the comments if you find her advice helpful.
