Fans trying to watch The View on YouTube TV this week were outraged to find it missing. The live TV streamer unexpectedly dropped the show. Keep reading to find out why and if it will return.

YouTube TV Drops The View, More Shows

YouTube TV is one of several options that television viewers use to watch live TV without subscribing to cable. The streaming service costs about $82 a month for over one hundred channels. But ABC is no longer included in the subscription plan.

A contract dispute between YouTube TV and Disney resulted in the streaming service dropping The View and many other shows that air on ABC. But that wasn’t the only channel gone from YouTube TV. Other Disney-owned channels, including ESPN, Freeform, FX, Disney Channel, and Nat Geo, were among the channels dropped. More than twenty channels were dropped from YouTube TV amid the contract dispute.

A memo from Disney executives to employees defended the decision to cut channels on YouTube TV. The executives blamed Google, which owns YouTube TV, for removing the channels without warning. Variety shared the text of the memo.

“YouTube TV and its owner, Google, are not interested in achieving a fair deal with us. Instead, they want to use their power and extraordinary resources to eliminate competition and devalue the very content that helped them build their service,” the memo read.

They vowed to continue working on a deal, but The View and other shows won’t be on YouTube TV until they do.

Fans Slam ‘Greedy’ Disney & ABC

YouTube TV isn’t the only streaming service to stop airing ABC shows. Soap fans were livid to discover that General Hospital was no longer available on Hulu after Disney announced it was bundling the streamer into Disney+.

Fans of The View who were missing the show on YouTube TV took to social media to call out the “greedy” networks.

  • “Yes, Google and Disney are both too poverty stricken to reach an agreement.”
  • “This also happened on direct tv now before I cancelled that and moved to YouTube tv. Disney is greedy af.”
  • “That mouse is a greedy little rodent.”
  • “I’m particularly miffed because MTG is supposed to be on next week. Giant global corporations gotta corporate.”

One fan assured television viewers that Google and Disney will come to an agreement eventually. The networks always do. But several fans of The View vowed to switch television providers amid the contract negotiations.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, who represents Congressional District 14 in Georgia, joins The View as a guest on Tuesday, November 4. The surprising move comes amid claims the show only features left-leaning guests. Unfortunately, some viewers may not be able to watch it live if Disney and Google can’t come to a resolution.
