Ohio Student Fatally Shot While Taking Homecoming Photos
A high school senior in Ohio recently lost his life after being shot at by a young family member. Reportedly, the teen was taking photos for homecoming, losing his life before the event. Police have since shared more information about the story.
Officers Attempted To Peform Life-Saving Measures Before The Teen Was Taken To A Nearby Hospital
An 18-year-old, Isaac Brocco Rivera, was found fatally shot at Lorain’s Lakeview Park on October 18. He was a senior at Lorain Success Academy.
Police had been dispatched to the area at around 6:44 PM local time after reports of a shooting. Rivera was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound in his head. He was also found inside a parked car.

According to WOIO-TV, LPD Captain Jacob Morris shared, “He was in the driver’s seat of his vehicle which was a gold jeep.” He shared that teenagers had been taking photos at the park for an upcoming homecoming dance.” It was also unclear if anyone witnessed anything at the time.
Officers had then attempted to perform life-saving measures to help Rivera. He was then transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police recovered a handgun from the park around the time of the incident. However, it is believed the gun is not connected to the shooting, as shared by WJW-TV. Another handgun was found in another location, which was believed to be the weapon that claimed Rivera’s life.
Isaac Brocco Rivera’s School Also Issued A Statement Over The Tragic Incident
Police later shared that they believe a family member was the one who shot Rivera. As Morris shared, “Through exhaustive investigative efforts, detectives have learned that a juvenile family member who was present with Mr. Brocco Rivera was handling a firearm inside the vehicle.”
Morris continued, “The firearm was accidentally discharged, fatally striking Mr. Brocco Rivera while both were seated in the car.” The LPD also shared that they would work with county prosecutors to determine if charges will be filed in the case.

Lorain City Schools Superintendent Dr. Jeff Graham also shared the tragic news of Rivera’s death on Facebook the following day. It was shared, “It is with a heavy heart that we share that we tragically lost one of our high school students this weekend, Isaac Brocco Rivera, who was a senior of Lorain Success Academy. I’m sorry, but we are not able to share any more details at this time, as the Lorain Police Department investigates the circumstances surrounding his death. Please keep his family in your hearts and prayers during this difficult time.”
Reportedly, the announcement was delayed out of respect to the family and as was requested by the police department. The statement also shared that a “crisis team” and “supports” would be available for students and staff as needed.
Rivera’s family has also since started a GoFundMe in tribute to the teen. As they shared, he was a “cherished son, brother, and friend who brought so much love and light into our lives… he left for his senior homecoming and never made it home.”
