Elderly Alabama Man’s Scalp Ripped Off In Dog Attack
Dog attacks have long been a nightmare, and many times, the pup is put down for what they have done. Recently, a pitbull attacked a postal worker, and now, another horrible incident has occurred. Jamie Boyd of Bibb County, Alabama, was on his way to his mailbox on September 24th, 2025. This should have been a regular daily task, but soon enough, seven dogs were after Jamie. The eighty-one-year-old found himself taken down by the seven, and there was no help to be found. Yes, his wife tried to be of assistance, but her use of a walker caused her to fall.
William and Lacey Mitchell are the owners of the seven dogs, and a lawsuit has been filed against them. In Alabama, there is Emily’s Law, which is directed at those who have pups that can cause destruction or physical harm. As for Jamie Boyd, his scalp was ripped off during the attack, but it did not end there. He also lost fifty percent of his muscle tissue, and there is a chance he will lose some limbs. Amputation is definitely on the table per his lawyer, Paul Patterson:
“He is facing amputation of his arm and potentially leg in order to stop the infection that is just out of control and the family seeks prayers for everyone in the community.”
Now, the Alabama couple who owned the pups knew that they could be dangerous. Due to this, they were arrested but were able to bail themselves out. As for the dogs, one was shot at by authorities but seemed to run away unscathed. They were also pitbulls and pit-mixes.
What’s Next?
The seven dogs have since been taken away from William and Lacey Mitchell. They will next appear in court in December 2025. As for those who heard what had happened to Alabama’s Jamie Boyd, they were devastated. It is a tragic story and could keep getting worse. Therefore, many prayers were sent to Jamie and his family in this horrific time:
- You should only be allowed to have 2 dogs maximum per household. Prayers to the elderly man.

- Well sadly something needs to be done with the pups. No one should have that many big dogs and dangerous ones at that.
Some strongly felt that the Mitchells should have to spend time behind bars, but a judge will decide that. Hopefully, Jamie Boyd gets some positive news from the doctors and can live happily for the rest of his years.
