‘Young & Restless’ Roger Howarth’s Character Worse Than Ian Ward?
It was recently announced that soap star Roger Howarth would be joining the cast of The Young and the Restless in a mystery role. Since then, fans have been wondering just what he could bring to Genoa City. In fact, some already suspect that he could be the second coming of another character who recently made a return to the soap.
It Was Announced Back In August That Roger Howarth Would Be Joining The Soap
Howarth has had a prolific career in soaps. One of his first big roles was that of Todd Manning on One Life to Live.
Over the years, he would join the casts in various other daytime dramas, including As the World Turns and General Hospital. His time in Port Charles was cut short in 2024, however, when his character was fatally shot. However, it was recently announced that he would be joining the world of soaps on another long-running series.

As previously reported by Deadline Hollywood, it was announced back in August that Howarth would be joining the cast of The Young and the Restless. At the time, it was noted that the actor had already started filming in mid-September for an arc set to play out this fall.
However, information on who Howarth was playing was also kept under wraps. Since this news has come out, fans are wondering just what his character could bring to the show. In particular, fans suspect the character could be a new villain.
Fans recently saw Noah Newman end up in a medically induced coma following a car accident. With an investigation into what happened, there is already suspicion of foul play. Some fans think Howarth’s character could be connected to this and is the one behind Noah’s accident.
A Few Fans Of The Young And The Restless Suspect Howarth Could Be The Soap’s Next Big Villain
Some suspect that Howarth could be playing Mitch, a character mentioned in the October 14 episode. So far, not much is known about the character beyond a connection to Sienna, which also lines up with Howarth’s mystery role.
Fans also recently saw a few other villains return to the soap, such as Ray Wise’s Ian Ward, who also recently came to cause trouble last year on the soap. Howarth’s new character has already drawn comparisons on social media, and Y&R fans are here for it!

As one fan noted on social media, “I can totally see Roger Howarth playing an evil villain like Ian Ward. He has been amazing as Todd Manning, Franco Baldwin, and other portrayals. Y&R is lucky to have him. I will be watching after a long hiatus because of crap storylines. Rumor has it he is behind Noah’s accident. Can’t wait to tune in… wonder who his love interest will be.”
More fans wrote: “He is a bit stereotyped in soaps and good at it”
“I hope he stays for years to come”
“I love him and slightly lust after him. ๐๐”
“Anyone know who he’s going to terrorize? Please be Sharon”
Ultimately, anything could happen on a soap. Fans will have to remain tuned in and watch The Young and the Restless to see what happens next.
